After years in prison for hacking charges related to Anonymous, I was excited to finally return - only to find it thoroughly run by feds and deeply enmeshed with the military industrial complex we fight against. A disgusting display, the first hour's fascist fireside chat with DEFCON's Dark Tangent and General Paul Nakasone - a four star general and director of NSA and US CYBERCOMMAND until just last year. With DT saying "Go Army!" shamelessly recruiting for the military and praising Al imperialism as US bombs fall on Gaza - we had to take a stand. As they smugly took their final jello shots with so much blood on their hands, we shouted "War criminal!" "Free Palestine!" "This isn't a hacker conference - it's a military recruitment drive!" For daring to speak out, we were aggressively kicked out by Las Vegas Convention Center security guards - who put hands on us, calling us homophobic slurs. No goons or anyone from DEFCON offered any discussion or due process. Shameful how Fedcon treats real hackers and freedom of speech. On July 28th, we received a support inquiry about known vulnerabilities, but this was not identified as a new issue until July 29th, when we received a GitHub ticket with more details about this issue and confirmed the bug. Later that day, on July 29th, we released a patch (GiveWP 4.6.1). On July 30th, we notified users, but we now know that our messaging lacked transparency and empathy. Failing to fully acknowledge the impact — especially for donors that rely on anonymity — was a serious oversight.

a second source warned a significant amount of sites they found have not yet been updated, or had pre-update data indexed via search engines. both spoke on terms on anonymity for their safety.

the name–email pairs were exposed in website source code as a result of a bug in WordPress donation plugin GiveWP. websites that updated to version 4.6.0 (released July 23) but not to version 4.6.1 (released July 29) are vulnerable.

other websites I was sent data from include those of right-wing pundit Larry Alex Taunton, the Iowa Firearms Coalition PAC, the Nidwalden cantonal youth wing of the natcon Swiss People's Party, the IDF-benefitting "Canadian Friends of Yad Sarah," and conservative advocacy group 60 Plus Association.

the Helping Israel Fund list also includes noted sexual abuse attorney Jeff Herman, former Florida Panthers co-owner Cliff Viner, and former Palm Beach County Mayor Robert Weinroth (who donated twice under two emails).

it also includes many spam names and emails, a common element of these lists.

SCOOP: two sources gave me more than 3,600 name–email pairs of donors to pro-Israel and right-wing organizations. 2,700 of the pairs are from donors to the IDF-benefitting "Helping Israel Fund," a list that includes Pace University Law Dean Horace Anderson and NJIT Athletic Director Lenny Kaplan.
