I listened to a bit of this album the other day for the very first time since it came out and it was a huge nostalgia trip. It definitely holds a unique place on my heart.

You are entirely correct, it's triplets! Three over two in this case. But it would be easy to mix that up with "dotted 8th+dotted 8th+8th", which sounds very similar.
