Epic amount of work, congrats. One comment: I get this is a biological assessment, but humans as a main driver of all this seems largely absent from much of the discussion. We really are the keystone alien species actively and passively behind much of this.

wow, august precip here in the southern gulf islands has equalled or almost equalled every month this year so far except march. and yes that includes jan and feb. july was almost zero precip, glad i did fieldwork then.

Honestly I was surprised - maybe even disappointed - in how superficially archaeology played into the evidence/decision. I don’t think even most well intentioned archaeologists know how to read the archaeological record of the Salish Sea (sorry colleagues!).

You are probably the most informed and articulate (non-FN) person to address these excellent questions. Wouldn’t it be nice if this wasn’t ultimately going to come down to a Supreme Court ruling, meaning that maybe we could all just sit down and work this out outside that adversarial court system.
