Photo of the book: Days at the Morisaki Bookshop. By Satoshi Yagisawa. The cover shows two figures in the doorway of a bookshop, many rows of books, and a bicycle and a cat outside the door.

This was a lovely read.

Wish when you submitted your votes you could see the results so far. Like online polls. Feel like that would get the voter turnout up. #GE24

Our polling centre in Bray was hopping 👏 Overheard a chat between two younger people, “I want to see change, that’s the only reason I’m here.” #GE24

Hope it’s the same kind of change I want 🙃

My caption is incorrect - but the important thing is still to vote all the way down, or really as far as possible. I think this is more important than ever if we want change. #ge24

Yes - you’re right! I’m terrible at explaining it hence the video!

The best approach for if you want to ensure someone DOESN’T get your transfers today - ensure you give literally everyone else *some* preference. Explained well here by @gavreilly.com #ge24

No. If you hate more than one, you should still rank them. If you think eg "I'd rather neither, but Peadar Toibin is slightly preferable to Justin Barrett" then you should rank them. Not ranking them won't stop them getting elected, it'll just mean you have no say in who is elected

Can everyone teach their friends and parents and everyone how important this is for tomorrow? Punish the ones you don’t! Vote all the way down to show HOW MUCH you don’t want bad candidates.

Reminder: Ireland’s PR-STV electoral system not only allows you to support the candidates you like - but also to punish the ones you don’t.

If there’s a candidate(s) you despise, you can promote *literally everyone else* ahead of them by giving those rivals all the preferences on your ballot paper.

A green ceramic dino and a yellow and brown ceramic giraffe. But instead of having ceramic necks and heads, the electric toothbrush heads become the neck and head. There are emoji googley eyes added, I may get eye stickers to
add to the caps IRL.
The same ceramic pieces without the toothbrush heads. It shows the metal spikes that the toothbrush heads are held on by.

My ridiculous toothbrush head holders.

A glossy, dark blue, hand built ceramic bowl, with an inner bowl. The inner bowl is there for shells from the pistachio to be discarded into. The bowl is a bit wonky and quite thick, as it’s hand built not thrown on a wheel. It also has a little sort of ball in the bottom of the inner bowl, sort of like a pearl in a shell. Just to add interest when it’s empty. The same bowl, shown from the side. The same bowl, with pistachios and empty shells in the relevant sections.

Pistachio bowl out of the kiln this week and working perfectly. I love it almost as much as my toothbrush head holders.

I think my top tips for gardening are 1. Use one colour lots to make an impact, not lots of colours a little. 2. Stop planting fugly shrubs. This country is obsessed with fugly shrubs and multicolour bedding plants.

A large, ridged texture terracotta pot with a purple cordyline, pinky purple heather and bright pink cyclamen. I think it’s a nicer combo of textures too, the spiky cordyline, furry heather and smooth cyclamen. There’s a fair bit of dirt on the ground from the planting. A small yew in a black pot behind it also has some cherry tomatoes growing out of it!

Going OTT with the pinks to combat the grey days. Cordyline, cyclamen and heather.

Jury finds Conor McGregor sexually assaulted a woman in a Dublin hotel in 2018 The Mixed Martial Arts fighter denies raping Nikita Hand in a Dublin hotel on 9 December 2018.

It is appalling that the State, the department of Public Prosecution refused to take a criminal case.

I am glad she had the support & resources to take a civil case.

Every company right now: no, no, we’ve optimised that process using ChatGPT. We’re very happy with the results

That process:

I didn’t believe it could happen. Does anyone know does this give any leeway to challenge the DPP’s previous decision that it couldn’t proceed with a criminal case?

“we silence the song of the Earth. We live in a much quieter world than even 50 years ago, there is 60% less buzzing, croaking, roaring, scuttling, blooming, singing and erupting life. Planet Earth is increasingly threadbare; it seems E. O. Wilson was right.” [We live in the Age of Loneliness.]
