Palentier is unprepared for the level of babysitting boys that age still need; just ask the military what their recruits get up to, and the military has more experience at indoctrination.

This could get interesting as the Harvard-grad Theil realizes how much teens don't know but think they know. He may not want people who actually know better questioning his methods, but just ask the military how much high-school-graduates can be trusted.

No doubt that Theil believes that only Theil himself can properly guide technology to avoid totalitarianism.

Thiel argues that fearing or regulating technological progress (including AI), rather than responsibly guiding it, risks accelerating a path toward a one-world, totalitarian solution (which he framed as an “Antichrist” outcome).

And who does he expect to "guide" while not being a totalitarian? 🤔

And it is amazing how he describes the antichrist as someone who preaches armegeddon-is-coming and he doesn't recognize Trump in that breath; Trump is constantly predicting disasters only he can save us all from.

It is very clear that his motivations are that science isn't progressing fast enough to let him buy his way into living forever, but rather than use his nearly limitless funds to support science he wants to punish the scientist.

People with money tend to think they are smart, rather than just lucky, and that lends them to think everything they have an opinion on is worth listening to.

I cannot for the life of me understand why anyone would pay to hear that man narrate his own naval-gazing.

Then, go canoeing with that person. I have yet to see a canoe trip not predict the success or failure of a couple. Someone you can canoe with is someone you can have kids with.

If you really want to find a partner to raise a child with, get a constructive hobby (volunteer), make friends by regularly going to group activities, and you will find like-minded people to date or introduce you to dates. Finding good people requires effort *offline*.

Having just listened to the Search Engine interview, there is so much baggage to unpack here.

The lack of focus on finding a *partner* to tackle life's problems with makes the task impossible.

But also; why have kids when you can't even manage your own life?
