In conclusion, this isn’t just about me. It’s more of a general statement to anyone who needs it. I see fellow artists struggling with rejection and I want them to know that I’m rooting for them. I was in their position once and they don’t have to feel alone. Just remember why you love creating art.

I think that once you become comfortable with the idea of facing set backs, you’ll find it easier to find coping mechanisms. It will feel like water rolling off your back. You can grieve, but don’t let it consume you. It’s a tough lesson you have to experience on your own.

I used to internalize rejection. I would ruminate for hours and days, wondering why I wasn’t good enough. But it took almost 3 years for me to become comfortable with the idea of rejection. There is always another chance. Another opportunity waiting for you.

As artists, it’s part of the job. When you’re first starting out and even when you’ve been in the industry for years, you’re bound to be told “no” when you ask for something. Sometimes the opportunity you want the most isn’t meant for you. It doesn’t mean you’re not good, it just wasn’t aligned.

Rejection can be one of the most painful experiences a human being can go through. I don’t think anyone is immune from feeling the crushing impact it has, whether it’s minimal or intense. The feeling it invokes only makes us human. However…
