Sports are so late in the Eastern Time Zone. If I lived here, this is what would probably kill me. I’m grumpy enough having to put up with the Pacific Coast living in Saskatchewan.

Given the length of the queue, this all seems predictably unlikely. But it was worth a shot in case I got lucky.

AI can’t hold a candle

Outshooting the other team 36 to 22 only to give up the lead on a goalie miscue and lose in the shootout is a very Oilers way to start a season.

The Hurricanes aren’t likely to be fooled by PDO. But I bet he priced himself out and like you said, overplayed his hand.

Not so much a worry, just thinking about options on where he fits and what they might want to do with him. If you can PK, that gives you a leg up to stick around in the bottom 6.

No complaints. Great player to take a low risk flyer on.

Roslovic has some defensive warts. But he’s got speed, plays centre, has some finish. Didn’t PK last year with the Hurricanes but did with the Blue Jackets in the past. Shot a bit high on shooting percentage last year.

But at $1.5M x 1? Take that all day for a 3rd-4th liner with offensive upside.

He was almost certainly offered more than this earlier in the summer. Got to be kicking himself that he turned it down.

But then guys like Perry and Brown did well after their short term contracts with the Oilers so why not?

I don’t know ‘too’ much about him but it depends on price and term as always. Not so great defensively. But can pump a bit of offense. May help as an offensive 3rd line option?

Seriously though. I’m flying into Toronto tomorrow to visit Niagara Falls with the family. We fly out late Sunday night. If they schedule the game for the afternoon on Sunday, maybe I could see it? (Presuming I can get tickets, but that’s step 2.)

I miss Danny Williams

As someone who doesn’t regularly watch baseball, I find this scheduling to be wild. I know they play almost every day. But this seems too much ‘as a fan’. Like we just went through all that yesterday and now you want me to do it again ‘today’? With no rest? Madness.

Yeah that’s definitely a possibility if he’s agreeable and maybe that was part of the informal discussion if his injuries start to pile up as he gets older.

Yeah that’s true. There is a cap drop there commensurate with a decline in role. $4M is more in keeping with a 4-5 defenseman in a rising cap world. I’m just saying I would’ve liked to see how the first half the of year went this year before committing to another 3.
