The PA House just passed our bill to fund home repairs for low-income homeowners, including seniors and folks with disabilitiesβ€”building on the success of the Whole Home Repairs program. Over 18,000 applicants are still waiting.

Next stop: the Senate.

There was one that would be voting directly on divestment which got taken off. In response, opponents to that measure added this one, which is effectively enshrining the cities ability to do business with foreign countries. It’s the opposite of divestment.

Voter guide to Pittsburgh ballot question #1: local governance and prohibition of discrimination The most notable part of the provision stems from the emphasis given to business relationships β€” and from the addition of new categories of discrimination that the question would make unlawful.

I’m not entirely sure wha you’re asking. Here is an article that explains it well: www.wesa.fm/wesa-voter-g...

Bolding and underlining race, gender, ancestry, sexual orientation, etc. but association or affiliation with any nation or foreign state, e.g. the actually substantive portion of the amendment is normal font.

A sample ballot showing "Special Election Question 1" in Pittsburgh. The question asks whether the city should amend its Home Rule Charter to prohibit discrimination based on categories such as race, religion, ancestry, sex, sexual orientation, age, gender identity or expression, disability, place of birth, national origin, or affiliation with any nation or foreign state when conducting city business. The words β€œrace, religion, ancestry, sex, sexual orientation, age, gender identity or expression, disability, place of birth” are underlined. Below the text are two options: Yes and No.

If you live in Pittsburgh, this is on your ballot tomorrow.

It’s a preemptive move to block future campaigns calling on the City to divest from Israel.

It’s dressed up like a civil rights protection β€” but it’s not. It’s bad faith and it's anti-democratic.

Vote NO on Question 1.

Governor Shapiro said it: Pennsylvania's lack of eviction sealing makes LITERALLY no sense.

An eviction filing, even without an actual eviction, can block families from housing and jobs for years. We fixed this for criminal records with Clean Slate. It’s time to do the same for housing.

The governor is talking about transit right now, and he gets it. $300M for buses, trains, and paratransit means more Pennsylvanians can get to work, school, and essential services.

Reliable transit isn’t a luxury, it’s a lifeline. Investing in it means investing in people.

This man was serving time for violating the federal FACE Act and was pardoned by Donald Trump last week. He’s been known to stop by the clinic where I volunteer. Please contact your state rep if you’re in PA and ask them to either co-sponsor or support @reppowell.com’s PA FACE Act bill.

Would love to know what you’d like to see more of, if there are specific legislative initiatives you think the Dem caucus should be focusing on?

This upcoming week the house will vote to make it easier for municipalities to create parking protected bike lanes, create an Eating Disorders Task Force with the Department of Education, among others. Last I checked, over 300 bills have already been introduced. We’re not doing nothing. But….

Just to be clear, you are defending a Heil Hitler salute that was performed and repeated for emphasis and clarity.

People can officially stop listening to you as any sort of reputable source of information now. You work for them. Thank you for making that crystal clear to all.

I’m just going to say that AOC is the acting leader of the Democratic Party until someone proves otherwise. At least insofar as she is responding to the moment with leadership.

This is really frustrating to read. If Schlossberg thinks public service is so important, he should use his position in House leadership to raise the pay of Dem Caucus employees like myself. As it stands I could make more money as a dishwasher.
