Modern architecture is more than token prediction. It includes specialised training tasks that are more than classical token prediction, for example.

It feels like you're oversimplifying the current approaches.

I'd challenge you on this one - you're right that it is more complex than, say, a knowledge bank, but these models do retain information in their network weights to the point of being able to replicate existing works word for word. That's more than a bag of words model or mere token prediction.

As for output, it seems too simplistic to say it's all form and no content. There is more than mere form, because the LLM has approximated a world model, maintains some language based consistency, and has certain facts encoded in the model.

Not sure I follow. My comment is that how the prompt is structured is as important as the meaning of the prompt's words.

If you prompt in a textbook style, it weights the model to answer from textbook patterns.

For recall, the structure of your prompt might conflict with your prompt's content.

I see prompts more as probability weighting. Prompts are like pushing the model's predictions towards more desired patterns.
This means form is as important as content, and examples + RAG are powerful.

I, for one, don't think they've gone far enough with these preventative measures. It's time for:

- Daily colonscopies (you can never be too sure!)
- Preventative lobotomy
- Proactive embalming (got to be in peak form for the afterlife!)

Bonus points if administered to the whole cabinet.
