Yep. It's a flaming pile of poo. My computer (top of the line laptop, two years old) now overheats on the simplest full screen games... Games that I've been playing on laptops for twenty years.

Well done Microsoft. You suck.

I didn't say you did.

Modern architecture is more than token prediction. It includes specialised training tasks that are more than classical token prediction, for example.

It feels like you're oversimplifying the current approaches.

I'd challenge you on this one - you're right that it is more complex than, say, a knowledge bank, but these models do retain information in their network weights to the point of being able to replicate existing works word for word. That's more than a bag of words model or mere token prediction.

The way America has cut Europe and - crucially - Ukraine out of their multiple 'peace talks' with Putin makes it clear this is no error but an intentional strategy.

Trump is enabling Putin.

The question journalists should be investigating is: why?

However, it lacks self-awareness or internal consistency, its language consistency is relative, and it is not trained to be truthful.

In that regards it behaves sociopathically, and sometimes like that annoying nutjob at the pub who is persuaded he's an expert on everything.

"Form is all they got (the content is stochastic)"

As for output, it seems too simplistic to say it's all form and no content. There is more than mere form, because the LLM has approximated a world model, maintains some language based consistency, and has certain facts encoded in the model.

Not sure I follow. My comment is that how the prompt is structured is as important as the meaning of the prompt's words.

If you prompt in a textbook style, it weights the model to answer from textbook patterns.

For recall, the structure of your prompt might conflict with your prompt's content.

I see prompts more as probability weighting. Prompts are like pushing the model's predictions towards more desired patterns.
This means form is as important as content, and examples + RAG are powerful.

@bencollins.bsky.social - any idea who the primary physician is to whom we can pitch these new preventative measures?
Nothing's too careful for the commander in chief!

I, for one, don't think they've gone far enough with these preventative measures. It's time for:

- Daily colonscopies (you can never be too sure!)
- Preventative lobotomy
- Proactive embalming (got to be in peak form for the afterlife!)

Bonus points if administered to the whole cabinet.

Just need to plant in Trump's mind that past Pharoahs would take their slaves with them to the afterlife, so he should start the embalming process on cabinet now.

It's literally that easy.

It's a feature of the design of generative models for which companies are in denial over.

Prompt guards are ineffective because they are probabilistic, so additional controls have to be done post generation, which have their own probabilistic difficulties.

How much of our day to day content is fabricated without us being able to detect it, and on industrial scale?

What does that do to society when each person has imbibed "knowledge" that bears no correlation to reality?

30.11.2025 03:19 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

And that's half the problem, to someone without context it *sounds* reasonable.

At least for written content, there was a human behind it who had a reputation and job restraining wholesale fabrication.

The lower volume also meant fact checking could come in.

Agreed. The research is amusing in its attempt to spin negatives into a marketing positive.

"People are using our tools to commit crime!"

"Look how sophisticated they are!"

"Aren't we great for discovering it after the fact!"

"It might even be CHINA!"

29.11.2025 23:00 β€” πŸ‘ 3    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Their spin doctors were trippin' when they put that together!

One big point the article seems to miss is the proliferation of low grade attacks via GenAI.

The ability to do them enmass via slop generation is already a huge problem.

Social compacts acting on human consciences restrained such destruction.

Generative is untethered from any of this. It is fundamentally sociopathic.

29.11.2025 04:26 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

This is a key crisis that threatens the whole of society.

In a generative, post-truth world... how can we have any confidence that the narratives of generative content plants in our minds bears any resemblance to reality?

Over on FB, there's a barrage of inspirational-historical posts.

The first line is typically clickbait. Then it's a meandering ream of prose to an inspirational takeaway.

As soon as I spot the form, my default is "I have no reason to believe this is true, so it's better not to read it at all"

28.11.2025 22:15 β€” πŸ‘ 5    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Yep. The social contract has been broken. All media is disingenuous/synthetic until rigorously validated.

I've stopped reading certain types of posts entirely because I don't want hallucinations to subvert an accurate view of the world and history.

Because the laws of thermodynamics don't appreciate their genius.
