Former Head of Comms for the IEA, Annabel Denham, says the super rich will leave if we have a wealth tax.
Yes, the very same IEA that brought us Liz Truss’ disastrous mini budget. 🤦🏽♂️

Photo of the entrance to the Eurostar terminal in Gare du Midi.
There are glass windows with decals showing Big Ben, the London Underground and a royal guard. The foreground is a grey tiled floor.
Good morning from Gare du Midi in Brussels!
I'm railing and sailing to Dublin today and thought I would bring you along with me.
The journey will be 1) the Eurostar to London 2) a train to Holyhead with a change in Chester and 3) a ferry to Dublin.
Crossing my fingers it goes smoothly🤞🏻

How UK could leave ECHR
Withdrawal would allow EU to end criminal law enforcement co-operation
Lord Wolfson's legal advice to Kemi Badenoch on ECHR withdrawal has now been published. In this thread I'll highlight a few passages that stood out for me - not meant to be a full analysis (in [] are the paragraph numbers). /1

If you can't see how this will end, then you're not paying attention (not least to what's going on on the other side of the Atlantic).

Hold on a second. Those startling numbers on the proportion of global data traffic passing through Irish waters aren’t exactly backed up by the source they are quoted from.

There's a fascinating case study to be done on the different strategies of Macron and Sánchez. Both emerged, against the odds, from centrist milieux in the mid-2010s to lead their countries since 2017/18. But their fates are totally different.

They died together, in their own home — torn apart in seconds.

Wargame Day: Is the UK ready for a real Russian attack?

'The Wargame' played out how Russia could coerce the UK - and what Britain could (or could not) do about it.
That was recorded in April. Six months later, this catch-up asks whether the current UK government is acting with sufficient urgency to make people any safer.

„Ok, und wie willst du den Schreibtisch transportieren?“
„Oh..“

British politics is basically a doom spiral of increasingly unhinged hostile policies.
Reform says something unhinged
⬇️
Labour counters with their own unhinged policy
⬇️
Tories shout from back they'll be even more unhinged

Reform announces different unhinged proposal in response

Yes there are some technical challenges, but we absolutely can do more to defend against drones over critical infrastructure and part of the reason why we haven’t in the past was that it simply wasn’t seen as a major threat.
