I do have a fixation on the obliteration of the original self usually when I am discussing transformation, the ultimate becoming of something else entirely. I haven't done enough that focuses more on that middle ground.

having to bind something within them perhaps. or they've since been cured of an illness but it would be expensive to surgically remove and replace the parts that were changed. maybe a specific curse the character is very adept at keeping under control. stuck dealing with a liminal body.

something I should definitely work with more of if I ever get the chance (both erotic and non-erotic) is characters that are more in-between states of transformation, not fully transformed but rather just playing with someone who is stuck at a midpoint or having to mutation-reduct their body.
