A photo of a woman in pink in a wheelchair. She has an intubation for oxygen. She looks up at the viewer. Words:

This is Alice's friend Sandy Ho, posting. Per Alice's wishes, this message is being shared at the time of her passing
Hi everyone, it looks like I ran out of time. I have so many dreams that I wanted to fulfill and plans to create new stories for you. There are a few in progress that might come to fruition in a few years if things work out. I did not ever imagine ! would live to this age and end up a writer, editor, activist, and more. As a kid riddled with insecurity and internalized ableism, I could not see a path forward. It was thanks to friendships and some great teachers who believed in me that I was able to fight my way out of miserable situations into a place where I finally felt comfortable in my skin.
We need more stories about us and our culture.
You all, we all, deserve the everything and more in such a hostile, ableist environment. Our wisdom is incisive and unflinching. I'm honored to be your ancestor and believe disabled oracles like us will light the way to the future. Don't let the bastards grind you down. I love you all.

I am gutted to learn of @sfdirewolf.bsky.social (Alice Wong’s) passing. She was always a warm friend, a wonderful spirit, and someone who fostered my own growth. She helped me see that, as a #disabled person with chronic illness, I matter—I am whole. I’ll be posting some of Alice’s work. ❤️ forever

Beautiful photograph of anti-slavery activist Sarah Remond.

Remond also spent 3 years in Britain, arriving in 1859. She studied at Bedford College, but continued to give public lectures across the country.

The cover of a book. Text reads Textile Shakespeare. The lower part of the image is ink printed on linen and embroidery, black on white, with some silver thread, with flowers, fruit, insects, and animals. it is discoloured with age.

TEXTILE SHAKESPEARE is official-publication-date-minus-2-weeks (11 November) which is a LOT👀 (I can't remember feeling this wound up about other books, I have the concentration of a gnat at the moment🙄) but seems to be live as an e-book already so, available to your Kindle right now, apparently...

THE ALCHEMY LECTURE

The City of Our Dreaming
The Alchemy Lecture
LALEH KHALILI, V. MITCH MCEWEN, GABRIELA LEANDRO PEREIRA, AND LEANNE BETASAMOSAKE SIMPSON
The third annual Alchemy Lecture brought together four "Alchemists"-thinkers and practitioners working across disciplines and geographies-to share a constellation of ideas for the future. Their urgent, poignant and inventive lectures comprise The City of Our Dreaming, which shares their ideas for cities and how to shape them according to community needs. Together, V. Mitch McEwen, Laleh Khalili, Gabriela Leandro Pereira, and Michi Saagiig Nishnaabeg writer and musician Leanne Betasamosake Simpson, offer new models for crafting architectures of freedom in disparate imaginative spaces. From suggesting a city modeled on buoyancy that reconsiders displacement and a dream of radical kinship and bonds through reciprocal giving, to "projects paved by the audacity to inhabit" that are built from dreams-the site from which all Black emancipation begins-and the ways collectives form at the thresholds between things, The City of our Dreaming is a clarion calls for new conceptions of city life. The Alchemists imagine the architectures and infrastructures that make possible, inevitable and irresistible gestures of freedom, modes of sustenance, and the necessity and pleasure of breaking bread, together.
