And I never had any Ghostbusters toys. I watched the show, and they were neat, but Ninja Turtles always got priority. Although I did get Toxix Crusaders because they fit in seamlessly with the TMNT figures. And the same for Dick Tracy.

Thankfully my parents didn't care what I spent my allowance money on... within reason. As long as I did my chores that was about it. Usually I'd get a figure and an issue of EGM or GamePro any weekend we went out.

My only regret is "growing out of it," because I never really did and missed stuff.

This idiotic regime won't even let us have our fucking toys. It wasn't the only reason, but this campaign was cancelled despite reaching its funding goals because the figures would be produced in China, and that might mean a 134% tariff soon, which would bankrupt the entire project. 😐

I'm not involved with the project. Just a long time TMNT collector, and these figures would fit right in with the classic Playmates figures.

I hope they reach their funding goal. That My Pet Monster inspired figure is really cool. There's a glow in the dark version available too.

The Radical Rejects Radical Rejects is a nostalgic toy line created by a collective of modern-day art toy artists.

I still have my copy of C4D R12 studio, but no system to run it on. I've thought about getting on old Mac to use it again, but I'm not even sure if it's worth it anymore. Blender can do quite a bit now for free.

Complicated button schemes don't trip me up. But my last non-Nintendo console is the PS3, and the Switch sure looks like it'll be my last console period, with how scummy the industry has become... microtranactions and all that shit.

Of course. Even without any evidence, I should have assumed this was the case.

Don't remember that one. If it was in EGM or something at some point, I'm sure I at least saw it somewhere when it was in development. But I never had a PS1, and only bought a couple PS1 games to play on my PS2. Certainly not any bootleg games that required hardware mods. 😂

I do remember when Sony spent millions of dollars for advanced encryption technology on their discs... only for hackers to discover all that code was written on the inner rim of the disc, and you could bypass it with a 50¢ magic marker.

...that unrealized Sony add-on became the PlayStation. Even as huge as PlayStation has become, it was still the right move for Nintendo.

There's a weird history there if you're not familiar. The short version: Nintendo signed a stupid deal with Sony for a CD add-on for the SNES that would've kneecapped Nintendo. So they scrambled for any other deal for a CD device to get out of that contract and found another partner in Phillips.

Ugh. I've never played that, but I've watched video of it and it looks awful.

I doubt my parents would care, but I've been playing 𝘕𝘏𝘓 96 fairly steady for thirty years, so the value that's been had out of that makes up for whatever else I've hardly played.

Damn. That is bad.

I think my worst experience like that was 𝘑𝘰𝘦 & 𝘔𝘢𝘤. Now, it's a fine game, don't get me wrong. But I wanted it for so long, my parents finally bought it for me on my birthday, whatever year that was... and I 100%-ed it on my second playthrough on the first day. 🫤

I've said I collect names like Pokémon. It's not even a joke, really. I'm a language nerd, and the stories I'm working on are kind of Tolkien-esque, in that a lot of it is just an excuse to reconstruct language roots like they're Legos.

...and in fairness, I was a ride or die Nintendo fanboy myself until the Switch 2. Nintendo is a completely different company without Sotoru Iwata running things. It was always about making money, let's not kid ourselves. But this new era of Nintendo is just blatantly and insultingly greedy.

Just part of being young and stupid for a lot of us. I once skipped my afternoon classes in art school to buy NHL 98 for the Sega Genesis, which I really couldn't afford. The kicker was it wasn't even any good; the handedness of almost every player was wrong.

A Nintendo fanboy and his money are soon parted.
