Ridiculous situation. A man who has spent the last thirty years being one of the most inventive, prolific and funniest stand-ups out there. You should make a beeline for this, I'd say.

Thirty-Two Short Stories About Death in Prison These stories don’t mention Jeffrey Epstein, but they are about him.

I wrote about Epstein’s suicide and how the disbelief about it shows a lack of familiarity with how inhuman America’s prison’s are. It remains one of the things that made people maddest (not saying jail is bad, disbelieving he was murdered).

160 years ago Clegg would probably have argued that abolishing the use of slaves would kill the sugar plantation industry in this country dead overnight. I mean it’s just not fair on the plantation owners is it?

Never thought I’d have to go to Wikipedia to check whether a labour prime minister was quoting Enoch Powell’s speech, but here we are: “For reasons which they could not comprehend…they found themselves made strangers in their own country” or Starmer’s “island of strangers.”

The Kinneil brass band playing outside the Barony Theatre in Boness.

A memorable trip to Bo'ness last night for the opening of Sylvia Dow's impressive and moving new play Blinded By The Light at the remarkable Barony Theatre. The play is partly about the lost battle to save the local colliery in 1982 so fitting that the Kinneil Band were on hand to welcome folk in.

Thank you so very much Ian, Mum would have celebrated her 90th birthday the day before Mother’s Day. She would also have been delighted to know that she was being remembered like this. There is such power, beauty and love in what you do each year.

The Guardian view on AI and copyright: creativity should be cherished, not given away | Editorial Editorial: The government’s consultation was weighted towards big tech. Now is the time for a rethink

The tech companies want this amendment to copyright because they’ve already stolen everything and want retrospective immunity, right? Exemption from the rules cos information wants to be free and all that BS.

Have written to my MP and, again, explained the idea of “property”.
