This is an Italian stone pine (Pinus pinea) having grown for several months after pruning and wiring. Italian stone pines are sometimes seen as small grocery store Christmas trees. They are interesting but difficult for bonsai.

The first thing one does when doing repotting work (I call it work but it's really play) is get the pot ready. I have threaded 1.5 mm hold-down wire through the drainage holes. Later I covered the holes with aluminum 1/16 inch screen and wet washed sand.

Today I am working on a kiawe tree, grown from seed, in this growing pot for several years. Kiawe was introduced to Hawaiʻi in 1850.

Milestone: Friday I completed my manuscript for the fourth book in the series. My trilogy will become a tetrology. There will be some editing, etc., and my hope is that the novella will be out before the winter holidays.
