I have said this elsewhere before. Elected politicians should be subject to same rules on accepting gifts as local authority employees. Effectively, this means that they should not be accepting anything that is worth having.
16.06.2025 17:11 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Why talk to a blackmailer whose declared agenda is to make your country subject to his own? Why talk to a blackmailer who you know has broken previous agreements he has made? MAGA America can only be relied upon to put short-term American interests before everything and everyone else.

I congratulate the Faculty of Advocates for being one of the signatories to this public statement deploring US Government attacks on lawyers doing their job www.advocates.org.uk/news-and-res...
21.03.2025 17:41 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Is Trump the new Neville Chamberlain? He does not seem to have the foresight or the wherewithal to be a new Winston Churchill. His account of his telephone call with Putin suggests that Putin has the measure of home and can play him like a fiddle.

07.01.2025 20:41 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0If one of Donald Trump's critics that he has threatened to throw in jail after he became President is actually prosecuted, would the UK grant asylum to that person or other Trump critics if they ask for it?

27.11.2024 12:21 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Essay questions. Inmates of an asylum vote for one of them to run the asylum. That person replaces staff at the asylum with other inmates who are his friends. What do you think will happen to remaining inmates in the asylum? What are the consequences for the asylum as an institution? Does it matter?
15.11.2024 19:14 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I closed my Twitter account very shortly after it was bought by Elon Musk. It became obvious to me that Twitter was no longer a respecter of free speech or a safe place. It has taken a long time for me to find a suitable replacement. I do hope that BlueSky is truly that replacement.
13.11.2024 18:59 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 1Meanwhile, Deputy First Minister Kate Forbes said Flynn would be a "brilliant asset" to the Scottish Parliament. Last year she criticised Ross, who was an MP, MSP and professional football referee at the time, branding him โthree jobsโ, external. Responding to Flynnโs announcement, she added: โThe beauty of democracy is that it ultimately will be a decision for the local electorate as to who represents them, both within the party and within the public. "Now, most recently, that was put to the test with Douglas Ross, he wasn't returned as the MP, and therefore it proves the point that democracy works."
One of the fun things about deciding that something you castigated a political opponent for (double-jobbing as an MP and MSP) is, on reflection, absolutely fine when *you* want to do it is that you force your colleagues to give daft answers like this in interviews. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
