London. It was like a mythical far off land to me when I was growing up in the Midland & Notth west in the 70s
What I always hear: “We can’t afford to pay our workers more than $15 an hour.”
What I never hear: “We can’t afford to pay our CEO millions of dollars a year.”
Funny how that works.
McGowan: You're saying 46 Americans died, so we should attack this country. Here at home, 68,000 Americans die a year because they don't have health insurance. So, if we're going to spend billions of dollars on something…

Palantir CEO promises that his technology will reduce educated women's economic and political power newrepublic.com/post/207693/...
Hello @bphillipsonmp.bsky.social is your government really okay with this because as an educator I think it's intolerable.
Because of course he did…
I've paraphrased but yes, somebody in education did actually say the equivalent of this elsewhere. It just demonstrates the lack of genuine interest in early years where reading for pleasure is deeply embedded.
This should help.
Heat pumps are the most efficient heating technology ever invented.
They harvest and compress pre existing heat in the air, ground or water and transport it where it is needed.
That energy is all around us. It does not have to pass through the Strait of Hormuz or any other geopolitical chokepoint.
i feel like if i was tasked with not starting a war and bringing back US manufacturing jobs, i could have done a better job than this
I think about this quote from All The Presidents Men constantly- “The truth is, these are not very bright guys, and things got out of hand”.
Trumpism has reached the world of early reading 🤦♀️
And there’s a raft of sycophants queueing up to blow up every bit of science and culture around reading

I’m livid with the mainstream press and their support of the US-Israel war -
It’s unrepresentative of UK citizens. It only represents the rich gung-ho Epstein class.
I’m more determined than ever to build the citizen journalism alternative.

Eric Trump and Donald Trump, Jr. are acquiring a drone company that is seeking to meet Pentagon demand after Trump banned the use of Chinese drones.
We’re barely a week into Trump’s war and already his family has found a way to cash in.
Everything is for sale.
you hopefully have a point - Calhoun’s mouse society experiments in 1960s showed that over indulged mouse colonies produced narcissistic individuals with pathological traits and eventually imploded
The enthusiasm of most billionaire media outlets in the US and UK for Trump’s illegal assault on Iran is another reminder of how deranged, perverse and frankly psychopathic these organisations are.
So, Johnson, Farage, Badenoch, the Telegraph… howl about the UK being “an irrelevance on the world stage”.
Remind me again who decided to isolate us with a strategically and economically idiotic Brexit, relying on a trade deal with the US to save us from exactly the kind of weakness they now bemoan.
An explanation from @georgemonbiot.bsky.social of how British / US overthrow of Mossadegh in 1950s (to get the oil) and the installation of the hugely unpopular Shah as Iranian ruler led to the Islamic Revolution of 1979.
IIRC Adam Curtis also good on this in Bitter Lake.
Sounds like it’ll all be in good order if Ruth has had a hand in. But I’ll let you know when am heading to the Black Country - Bostin!

Always need a trip to the home country if you want an EY view!
Private equity companies linked to Manchester City owner, and Bono making millions in profit through taxpayer-funded special needs schools.
20%+ profit margins. Children are cash cows.
Councils pay up to £350,000 a year to support pupils.

BREAKING: Adolescent teenage boys have taken over the Pentagon.
Interesting. I do think Oak is problematic in a number of ways. I had to chase them for ages to cover the full statutory areas of learning for the EYFS.

Pretty much - phonics is only one thread of the ‘reading rope’ yet seems to take up around 25% of the curriculum time in Reception & KS1 - huge focus on PSC but no focus or measure collected of joy / storytelling
Whilst I understand that the National Year of Reading needs press attention, I am sad that the boys in England are constantly portrayed as lacking, not doing enough…

Phonics & the curriculum was supposed to prevent this - The question is how has the last 20yrs of phonics, curriculum & pedagogical & outcomes development, failed to inspire & motivate them.
This clip is all over the other place and has made its way onto GB News and Talk TV so I’ll do a bit of an explainer here too!
The clip doing the rounds is of a fantastic police officer telling a group of Muslim men that a Christian preacher nearby is entitled to freedom of expression.
