I was ~15 when they gave a name to the mysterious illness killing gay men: HIV/AIDS. I watched Reagan & Bush vilify the victims and suppress govt investment in research, treatments, and cures. Then, when a boy called Ryan White was publicly supported, many of us realized what the conservatives were doing. By the time I was 18, I knew I could never vote for the GOP ever. And I have not. They've only become worse in the decades since. 🎀
