He's sleeping with his hat resting over his eyes.

There's no hiding the sparkle in his eyes as he took ahold of the tossed meat while starting at the redf of the meat.

"Ohh! Woooowww! That looks amazing."

SANJI! You're the best!!

His eyes are sparkling.

"Ah! Zoro!! Thank you!!"

"Whaaaatttt? We are though! I saved him from Alvida when he was still just a scrawny little crybaby!" Luffy huffs softly, arms crossing over his chest.

"Huh?? What are you talking about, Traffy? Am I missing something?" He asks, leaning closer with a curious look on his face.

staring toward the other pirate now.

"Just because we're rivals and all doesn't mean I don't also concider you a friend, ya know. Heck I'm friends with Koby and he's a marine!"

Those days- he remembered them well.

"Whether that's over or not- does it really matter? In the end- we're friends."

All luffy can do is stare quietly at Law while listening to him speak.

It was true that he had helped Law and easily repaid his debt but he didn't see it like that.

"What do you mean you don't see why I want you around? Are you dense or somethin?"

The grin had formed on his face again.

"You sure you don't regret that cause I know I've gotten under your skin a few times since then."

"That guy deserved that punch." Luffy huffs softly as he crosses his arms over his chest.

"As for Ace-" He sighs softly, thinking back on some memories.

"He used to always have to come save me when we were little. Actually he hated me when we first met." Both him and Sabo-

while pondering his next words carefully.

". . .it's no surprise that such a thing still haunts you. Something like that- would never be easy to forget. . ."

He shakes his head a bit.

"I'm sorry- that's a horrible thing to go through. . ."

Right- he didn't know Law's story. He hadn't even asked. He just helped take on Doflamingo without hesitation.

Now that he knew that little bit of Law's story though- it was terrible and to know it had been the Navy's doing too-

"Traffy. . ." He shakes his head slightly, eyeing the surgeon ++

"Yeah but you still came all the way to a freaking war just for that. Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful. . .especially after I- failed. . ."

Thinking back about Ace he closes his eyes a bit, only to look at Law with surprise.

"Your. . .sister-?"

Luffy always cherished those who were kind to him.

"I never did get to ask you- why did you come and get me at Marineford?"

Remembering that was very difficult for him, even the tone of his voice had changed just a bit.

Shaking his head slightly Luffy just smiles toward Law.

"Loyalty may be important but it also means going out of your way to help someone. Which is what you did."

He's staring toward Law now before gesturing to the scar on his chest.

"If it wasn't for you, I wouldn't have survived this ++

There's no stopping a small pout that forms on Luffy’s face.

"How many times have I saved your butt? And you're still gonna lay there and say we aren't friends?"

"You're so mean Traffy. And you were the one who asked me to work with you first."

"Eh- I just snagged some snacks from the kitchen and now I'm trying to hide before Sanji finds me."

He laughed a bit more, not noticing he still had some crumbs on his face.

The gigging continued as Luffy plopped his head down on Zoro’s shoulder, giving him a light squeeze.

"Hey Zoro, whatcha doin?"

"Hm?"

Luffy pushes himself up on his elbows, eyeing Law curiously as his spoke.

"You know. . ." There's a pause as he grins very slightly. "You also say we aren't allies, yet you just considered me one."

"And what do you mean we aren't friends!? Of course we are!"

"Well you're givin' the vibe like you were all worried about me or somethin'. " Luffy replies, giving a slight shrug.

"Or maybe you were worried about somethin' else. Like the possibility of losing the battle."

Glancing toward Law, Luffy snickers softly. That facial expression was priceless.

"Hey almost dying wasn't my fault! My fight got interrupted!"

"What's wrong? Did I stress you out or somethin'?"

Unable to contain his laughter, Luffy throws his head back and clicks his feet a bit.

"Yes you did! You know you had fun!"

"Did I really give you a heart attack?? Surely you weren't worried!"

A pair of stretchy arms are wrapping around @ofdemonicswords.bsky.social and suddenly there's a giggling captain attached to Zoro.

"Even you worked together with me more than once! So I can't be that bad." He can't help but bring that up, laughing loudly.

His gaze then turns toward Law and he's smiling even wider. "You know you had fun with us."

"It was no secret that I was a loose canon! I'm just havin' some fun." He snickers softly, bringing an arm over to nudge Law's shoulder.

"It is a big deal! You rarely smile and now you're back to that grumpy face!"

Law was always so amusing in his opinion. Such an interesting guy.

"Pretty good! I got no complaints!"

He laughs softly, giving a slight head nod.

"How are you?"

"Look who's grumpy face finally cracked a grin." Luffy comments, his own grin growing wider.

"It's good to have a loyal crew- I think I give mine a heart attack sometimes but they knew what they were gettin' into when they joined!"

He knew his whole crew was a lot to handle, but he was the worst.

"Your style doesn't even match your crew. They're all loud and silly and you're- well grumpy."

Another light laugh as he thought of the few times he had met Law's crew.

"Ah! Don't worry about that. One way or another we always manage to find him! He won't stay gone forever."

"Huh-?"

He's turning and grinning widely

"Zoro!!!"

"Yeah it really is!"

Turning his gaze toward Law, Luffy grins widely.

"You know! The same stuff we always do! We accidentally ran into the Marines again so that was a whole thing. Zoro got lost a couple times too. Had to go find him, or at least Sanji and Chopper did."
