Worse still is that the bigotry mostly comes first, followed by cherry-picked biblical literalism as a defense. If these folks were 100% literalists, I might at least feel a little sorry for them. But they're not. They're just using religion as a shield from just criticism of their worldview.

Biblical literalism is codified bigotry, and they are demanding legal protection for that bigotry.

I know the whole "when future historians" trope is overdone, but I genuinely think that our descendants will be as baffled by the outsized influence of litigious evangelical Christians on late 20th century/early 21st century society as we are by the the earlier influence of, say, the KKK.

The master detective is likable and delightfully portrayed, but is mostly an assemblage of tics and quirks and the schtick wears pretty thin by the time she’s eating tin fish on screen for the third time, or making her umpteenth birder/detective analogy.

Finished watching The Residence last night. As a murder mystery with a list of interesting suspects and clues, it’s pretty good. But boy oh boy is it pleased with itself. And it seems to think that talking about all the tropes it’s using makes it less annoying, which is only half true imho.
