Should have mentioned, I'm aware of mail-in ballots & their purpose, we use them in Canada like other democratic countries. Didnβt think I needed to point that out since it's common sense.
We're not talking about military but privileged ppl choosing to leave the US at a vital moment.
Besides pointing to the last election, we're not living in normal times. The "quite successfully" established system is not assured.
Regardless, my point on distance impacting voting apathy is still relevant. Active voters may still vote, but it will likely decrease numbers. Stay in the US & fight.
Only one country has ever deployed a nuclear bomb.
Besides the obvious lies, the US is not on the moral high ground here.
Could you imagine the US reaction if any country said it wanted to be involved in picking its next president.
I'm surprised no Americans are calling that out either. That shit isn't normal.
These propagandist liars are disgusting & their "investigations" can't be trusted.
SEVEN. Thatβs how many strikes hit near the Iranian girlsβ school.
Video shows a tomahawk missile hitting a building next to the school. The kind of βprecisionβ you get when an incompetent administration runs a war on outdated intelligence.
Donβt look away βwe should all see the deadly destruction
They're not allowed. They didn't choose to leave. They had to sign a commitment to only publish what the Pentagon would approved or face repercussions, tieing their hands. So now you have propaganda in the Pentagon.
People need to say this everywhere, everything from the Pentagon is propaganda.
Bears 100%
Open season on the other.
Where are the trophy hunters now?
If governments choose to take resources from civilians in their own country to harm/maim & murder civilians in other countries, it's time to change your leadership.
Flash drives & smartwatch especially are also being searched now.
Oh & don't worry, political beliefs have nothing to do with searches or removals, as per DHS. (Yeah π€¨)
The weird ritual I'm speaking of has more to do with the overly patriotic USA propaganda & my comment ws directed at the top.
Yup. Let me know when the politicians & majority of Americans catch up with that.
π¨ππ½THIS THIS THISππ½π¨
The US has this weird ritual of being "heartbroken" over the loss of military personnel, who sign up knowingly for a violent job, but seem to lack empathy for the citizens it murders. Heartbreak is deserved for the bystanders & likes of the victims of the girl's school.
Damn π³ What a great shot!ππ
Open to tampering, votes lost in the mail, etc. So it's a risky method.
It's a system that works if the players are honouring the rules.
Voter apathy is already a problem. Not being impacted directly by your vote can make it easier to not vote. You have to already care to keep it up.
Saw your reply after I commented to someone else.
Yes, they can but there are some issues. 1 not being there makes it easier to miss voting deadlines, not really be aware of issues & candidates.
2.current admin is trying to remove mail-in votes, if successful that ave woild be cut off. Its also...
Ave could be cut off. Even if they didn't though, mail-in votes across borders have an increased risk of tampering, getting lost, etc.
So it's not like they couldn't vote (for now) but it decreases the chances they will or their vote will count.
Yes-ish π
Ex-pats face extra challenges.
For example, voting apathy is chronic. Not being located in the country makes it easier to feel disconnected, miss deadlines, not be really aware of issues/candidates.
Then the current admin is trying to block mail-in voting. If successful that... /1
Fmr reporter here; that's a valid observation. Many news consumers, academics, researchers & generally people who pay attention then do more digging rather than just running a headline or "I heard from a friend of a friend."
Seeing more toxic accounts lately though π gotta fight to keep it critical
What really sucks about so many Americans leaving is it means less voters around to effectively change resulting in this shitshow lasting much longer than it should.
I believe voting is vital but I grew up in a religion that abstained from voting so not sure I agree with compulsory voting. There are those who have religious abstention.
That said, voting apathy is destroying democracy in every country. So I agree it's a problem we can't ignore.
That from the man who never has to pay for gas himself.
βAt a press conference Trump had a beer thrown at him! He's ok, it was a draft so he was able to dodge it!β
Tarrio is, quite literally, a pardoned terrorist.
Apologies for my fellow Canadian being a douchcanoe. Iβve had a similar argument with some Americans.
The cheating along with sabotage (ballots found ditched) & voter intimidation was documented.
There are cases still making their way thru the court system challenging election breaches.
Interesting take. Canada entered both world wars before the U.S., historically repelled every invasion attempt, & hasnβt followed them into every conflict.
Educationβs a beautiful thing, it's another area where we tend to edge ahead.
But you pop-off on your rage bait π
Someone wants to be noticed π
I respect you, but why are you perpetuating the propaganda that Noem has been "fired" when she was reassigned? It's the same play thr Catholic Church used to moved problematic priests it wanted to keep but lower the temp on.
Anyone saying she was fired is helping polish the Trump admin image.
But children are acceptable for Donald & Melania.
Hope Americans refuse to join their war so they'll be forced to pull from "patriotic" police & ICE agents instead.
Fewer local security = more opportunities to raid the billionaires resources & share the wealth.
