How MAT inspections could work – and why we should want them The whole education sector – and parents, too – would benefit from a β€˜carefully designed and sensitively implemented’ inspection system for MATs, claims this CEO

Introducing MAT inspections isn’t such a bad idea, says trust CEO Seamus Murphy – if it’s done carefully and sensitively, it could benefit everyone

There’s nothing you can’t talk about with students. You just can’t be racist or anti-trans because they will rightly call you out and universities should support them in doing so.

Pandemic five years on: how school social distancing efforts paid off Schools worked hard to introduce social distancing, mask wearing and class bubbles during the Covid-19 pandemic. Now, scientific research shows it was worth it

As we approach the fifth anniversary of the start of Covid school lockdowns, has research established whether school-level social distancing effectively reduced transmission? @ellencph.bsky.social looks at the evidence

When some guy who’s big in another field says something vaguely philosophical they think sounds cool but is wrong and you’re about to put them in their place then you realise that the audience is whooping and won’t notice how much you are going to own them and you’re just going to look churlish.

Presenting again tomorrow to a large student cohort on how evidence guides practice. I’ve cut out the maths this time. It really does put people off. But I don’t think you can get a proper critique going of the EEF toolkit if you don’t understand the idea of an effect size.

The problem with Netflix adapting all my favourite sci fi book series is that they repackage and reprint them all, so in the case where my set is not yet complete, now the covers on my new ones aren’t going to match the old ones.
