I’m not sure he was surprised by the results per se, but it helped him make the shift.
A friend of mine who always felt kind of conservative did this exercise ahead of 2016 and found he was pretty solidly behind HRC…and that position only continued to be validated as time went by…even leading to he and his wife switching churches.

Pediatrician, auto mechanic…I can revel in stories of Grampa fixing tractors in exchange for chickens, or the time he diagnosed diphtheria and impressed his snooty superior. I won’t say which did which.
While I find that that is very useful to have…I do not love it for specifically that reason.
Pretty sure if you’re continuing to adjust your reasons for bombing a country after the bombing has started…your original reason may not have actually been thought through.
