The N.C. House of Representatives voted 65 to 48 in favor of a new map that shifts about 500,000 people in eastern North Carolina between the 1st and 3rd Districts to give the GOP an advantage in the 1st.

North Carolina is virtually synonymous with partisan gerrymandering. Republicans have drawn all election maps in our state for 14 years running - the last Democratic lawmaker to touch any map, whatsoever, was back in 2003.

More than 660,000 North Carolinians are projected to lose their healthcare coverage under the Trump GOP's "One Big" federal budget, which Congress passed earlier this year. The bill effectively kills North Carolina's historic Medicaid expansion, which just passed in 2023.
