Small businesses are the backbone of Weston’s economy, and I’m doing all I can to stand up for them. 💼

In December, I was appointed to the Business and Trade Committee, where I work cross-party to scrutinise government policy and make recommendations.

I will be working with them to make this happen.

While M&S isn’t returning to the High Street, they do see Weston as a strong place to invest. This isn’t about chasing brand names, it’s about what local people want and need.

Behind every Christmas card and parcel is a team working long hours, early mornings and late nights to keep things moving. The care and effort that goes into making sure presents and messages reach loved ones on time is incredible.

I popped into the local post sorting office to see how the team were getting on during one of the busiest times of the year – and to personally say a huge thank you 🎄📮

I met with the Small Business Minister, Blair McDougall, yesterday, following our Small Business competition, to make sure the voices of local businesses here in Weston were heard loud and clear in Westminster.

⁠I’ll use this position to ensure Weston gets its fair share of everything, from investment and apprenticeships to trade and tourism.⁠

It will give us a powerful seat at the table. One of only 11 voices around that table, I will be a passionate champion for our local businesses and entrepreneurs. ⁠

This was not an easy decision, and I want to thank everyone who has written to me about the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill, also known as the Assisted Dying Bill.

At a time of growing tension, stability in the Middle East is essential - not just for the region, but for global security, and above all, for the innocent civilians and children who always bear the heaviest cost.

It’s great to work alongside local councillors who are passionate about their communities - and committed to making Weston work better for everyone.
