Every time you capitulate to a bully, they'll come back at you twice as brutally.

If you didn't learn this life lesson in third grade, GTFO of the US Senate.

Right now is when democrats have leverage. Trumpโ€™s approval rating is 37%, America is blaming republicans for the shutdown, the election was a landslide. THEY NEED YOUR VOTES. If you canโ€™t extract healthcare subsidies right now youโ€™re just a complete bitch. Unfit for leadership.

Voters want a Democratic Party that fights back against the forces that have rigged the system and made their lives more difficult.

A party that comforts the afflicted and afflicts the comfortable โ€”not a party that buckles and capitulates.

When will party leadership learn this lesson?

In the most predictable development ever, Mike Johnson is not committing to hold a House vote on ACA subsidies

Even if it had a 30% chance of passing in the senate (which it doesn't), it has a 0% chance of even being voted on in the House, and another 0% of being sign by Trump. Multiply anything by zero, and you still get zero, Angus. So no, it's not better than before.

Theyโ€™ve always wanted to destroy the ACA and SNAP because they hate when government helps people. They believe in socialism for the rich and survival of the fittest for everyone else. If you still think Republicans act in good faith, youโ€™ve never met one.

Casual reminder that the myth of โ€œpulling yourself up by your bootstrapsโ€ is a cruel hoax designed to convince poor people from all walks of life that the injustices they face are a result of their own actions, rather than an oppressive system rigged against them.

Today, Mike Johnson will keep the House adjourned for the 81st day out of the last 93.

12 days of work in over 3 months.

With full pay and benefits.

The senate has been working, so this is not about the shutdown.

It is about avoiding a vote to release the Epstein files.

This. This is what people mean by โ€œthere is no law anymoreโ€. It doesnโ€™t literally mean to ignore the law and just give up. Itโ€™s a call for those who are responsible for ENFORCING the law to actually do it. As of now, thatโ€™s not happening.

19.09.2025 20:32 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 2    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

I also see a lot of people posting about so-called legal wins, only for them to get overturned by SCOTUS. It gives a lot of people false hope that the rule of law will prevail. At the moment, it clearly isn't. The Trump regime is openly breaking the law and nobody is holding them accountable.

The "This is fine dog" but this time he's saying "They can't do this it's illegal" and he's wearing an I Voted sticker.

Okay, so it's illegal. Now what? Should we make it extra super double mega illegal, and then they won't be able to do it?

I think the sentiment people are expressing here is frustration that nobody is *enforcing* the laws

19.09.2025 11:32 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 7    ๐Ÿ” 1    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

The frustration is that we often interpret those posts as โ€œcalm down, itโ€™s illegal, SO he canโ€™t do itโ€. And then he does itโ€ฆwith zero consequences. So instead of simply alerting folks to what the law is, pair it with a msg of resistance & actionable advice.

18.09.2025 16:11 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 23    ๐Ÿ” 1    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 3    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

I think the problem is not with the pointing out, but with the lack of remedy. We're surrounded by talking heads who seem happy to point out day after day how things aren't working, but are silent when it comes to proposing solutions.

18.09.2025 16:30 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 45    ๐Ÿ” 2    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 3    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Good thing that Jimmy Kimmel, Stephen Colbert, Terry Moran, and lots of random people lost their jobs, but that Brian Kilmeade gets to keep his after saying homeless people should be killed. Sadly predictable.

Pete Buttigieg WARNS America:

โ€œThey didn't stop at the law firms. They didn't stop at the Universities. They didn't even stop at the comedians. They are NOT going to stop until they have TOTAL POWER!."

Aka, the words on the paper are effectively useless when those words are not backed up by actions.

19.09.2025 19:51 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Again: there is effectively no law when the law is unable to hold Trump & accomplices accountable. Theyโ€™re getting away with everything. This is about outcomes - not just whatโ€™s on paper.

19.09.2025 19:50 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 2    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

19.09.2025 19:48 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

I think that quote is more of an implicit call to action that creates real, tangible results (holding Trump and accomplices accountable by the law) instead of symbolic gestures. Simply saying โ€œthis is illegalโ€ isnโ€™t enough. The law effectively does NOT matter when there is no legal accountability.

19.09.2025 19:47 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 3    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Punishing college students for protesting him.

Pressuring TV networks to fire late night talk show hosts for criticizing him.

Suing newspapers for reporting he doesnโ€™t like.

If this were happening in another country, what would you call it?
