Staten Island’s Albanian Muslim community has always been a force for entrepreneurship and service.

I’m grateful I got to meet with local leaders about how my administration plans to support small businesses and give every community a real seat at the table.

From Park Hill to the Wu-Wall, the creativity and resilience of Shaolin Island built a movement that changed culture. I felt that same spirit today with local artists, faith leaders, Liberian entrepreneurs, and the legendary Chef Shaw-Nae Dixon + Mitchell “Divine” Diggs.

It was a privilege to join Staten Island leaders today to talk about unity, economic opportunity, and making sure no borough is left behind.

I’m especially grateful to Father Hank Tuell, Hon. Debi Rose, and Gerald “GeeBee” Barclay for bringing us together on this beautiful Saturday!

My heart breaks for the families and loved ones of the two teenage girls who tragically lost their lives last night atop the J train.

This tragic incident is a stark reminder of the dangers of subway surfing, which continues to take the lives of too many young New Yorkers every year.

This week, the Global Sumud Flotilla tried to deliver life-saving aid to Gaza.

Instead, 461 people—including New Yorkers—have been detained by the Israeli military.
