Not that silly is bad. I relish in my own silliness often. Anyway, back to describing the picture. The bird bath/feeder is on a backyard deck that has been partially prepped for a new coat of stain. I'll eventually finish that chore if we eventually get a weekend where it isn't deadly hot or pouring rain. Did I get distracted from the photo description again? Not seen in the picture is that the bird bath/feeder is under an awning so that the snacking birds don't become easy snacks themselves. The hawks around here are relentless. And always hungry, it seems. So.... today's theme is to be silly and relentless. Have fun!!

A poorly taken photo of a juvenile Red-tailed Hawk perched on a power line. More power lines (and cable and phone lines) can be seen behind the bird. A large pine tree with an undulating trunk is also in the background. That particular tree is one of the tallest along the road and a frequent place for our local predatory birds to look out for snacks. The power line does not usually host larger birds. Small and mid-sized birds all the time, but this may be the first time I've seen a hawk land there. Watching it try to get its balance after landing was very, very funny. Speaking of funny, have some fun today!!

The fuzzy brown downy feathers feel as soft as they look like they would, and the beaks and webbed feet are a shiny black. Yup. I got to pet baby ducks today. The Guitar Center logo on the sign on the floor next to the birds might provide a hint to where I work. We don't usually have bird visitors inside our store, so this was quite special for a birder like myself. I hope you get to pet a baby duck soon, too!!
