It says something pretty significant about the American psyche that

1. most sports present the owner with the winning trophy, not the players that just won it.

2. a big chunk of people think that makes perfect sense, cos he's the rich guy that bankrolled it.

But it should be pretty fucking obvious from the last few weeks that this isn't going the same as standing up to a bully.

I mean look, if you ask me, the entire 2nd amendment is an idiotic concept that's a complete anachronism in modern society. People shouldn't be armed.

But a trained federal agent shouldn't react to seeing a gun on someone by pumping him full of lead in a panic.

This country is staggeringly broken.

And anyone who criticizes it is un-American.

American exceptionalism has a lot to answer for. Half the world is going to hell in a handcart, but over here, everyone's armed while they're doing stupid things with little training.

None of this shit is justified

Somebody got shot. Again.

Somebody was killed. Again.

If your first reaction to that isn't that it's terrible and we need to work to prevent even more deaths, you're working on a cynical moral level I don't want to relate to.

I honestly try+take time to see things from both sides before entrenching an opinion on something. Particularly in today's world where everything can lie at first glance.

The fact that so many people in power IMMEDIATELY declare a set of facts in these incidents tells you they're not honest actors

It really should be a non-partisan position that shooting somebody to death in the face from a couple of feet away as they're trying to get the fuck away is wrong.

We can THEN divide down party lines about various other bs aspects.

But people's politics is now determining facts, not vice versa.

Everything gets politicized, and we can all become split on various elements of this, but if your STARTING POINT after seeing that video isn't 'My God, what a horrific overreaction,' I don't trust your ability to perceive reality.

Been thinking about this for a little while.

Even with all the current context, I'm still genuinely shocked how many people are trying to argue a different truth than what we can all see from very clear video of the incident.

It's genuinely Orwellian. Straight out of 1984.
