i think in universe, the reasoning is just that superficial unless its specific scenarios (like alice)

I think X hates religion because it's upset humans think so lowly of themselves.
It's upset they'd rather turn a blind eye to the horrors and put all their faith in a made up person, it's upset it's missing out on sweet sweet despair, it's upset they don't think for themselves.

X's favorite thing in the universe are humans, it loves analyzing how their minds work and how they react to different stimuli, especially when it can use that to create negative emotions. This doesnt stem from hatred, it's explicitly a fascination X sees as positive.

she takes care of dissecting the minds of victims, finding the best mental torture for x to use

this is how he always acts so personal with them, he has her to research their traumas and feelings

kyofu is another easy one, he tortures souls to try finding what they fear most, so when the time comes x can do the most effective torture with them

dont know how known this is, but x's "black hole" is just his true form peeking through, its alien nature erases any life from anyone that touches it
