Idea: mandatory retirement age for Congress equivalent to the average U.S. life expectancy (79) so they actually care about improving it.

Hopefully, this news will spur Valve into putting their plans to make SteamOS available on third-party devices into overdrive. "Hey, wanna toss Windows out a window, but still want to play all your games on your existing computer? One download, one charge, and you're good to go."

As for Slaanesh - that requires no explanation at this point, does it? Like Lorgar, he wraps himself in false religion and is generally pathetic compared to his peers, but may set in motion the corruption and stagnation of his empire.

Trump is clearly a champion of Chaos Undivided. He helps Nurgle spread his diseases via Secretary Brainworm, and so his rot is held at bay for a little while. He feeds Khorne's bloodlust at home and abroad, while dancing to the tune of at least five different puppeteers - as Tzeentch would wish.

I think it's time to revive the Ludlow Amendment - no war without a national referendum - with some revised language to rule out 'military operations' or whatever other weaselly bullshit politicians put together to justify bombing without congressional approval.

If the games are basically movies, why are they making a show of any kind? What gains to narrative pacing and delivery stand to be made by a live-action treatment that couldn't also be made by prestige animation?

Every society has its own way of making 'sanctuary wards' - effigies maintained by offerings that prevent fiends from magically or physically entering a home/town/city. Even in times of war, damaging a settlement's sanctuary wards is a near-universal taboo.

Baffles me that these people looked at the trend of phenomenal animated video-game adaptations like Arcane, Cyberpunk and Castlevania and went: Yeah, we really need to do GoW as a live-action show. Prestige animation with the OG voice cast would've been a slam dunk.

Honestly, any survivor who can stand that *close* to Bondi without going absolutely Maenad on her has god-like levels of self-control.

It's actually common for Planescape characters to call the gods 'powers,' probably due to the above logic.

A warrior who views the gods as flawed, powerful super-mortals unworthy of worship is not going to be impressed by a cleric's spells, or even a face-to-face encounter with a 'deity.'

TL;DR: In a setting where people can do magic by crushing some beetles or carrying a tune, the fact that the 'gods' exist and can grant magic doesn't make them 'divine' - just powerful. To an Athar, the only difference between a mad king demanding worship and a 'god' is the scale of their success.

For some reason, I've noticed a lot of memes and posts on my social lately expressing bafflement as to how anyone could RP an atheist in #dnd or a like #TTRPG. To those moots also pondering this conundrum, I'd suggest looking up the Athar - one of the Factions of ye olde Planescape lore.

I saw someone write Lutnick as Nutlick as a joke, and now I can't *unsee* it. Every time I see the smug fucker's name, I get that mental image now, and it's hella gross. Repulsion aside, I hope someone calls him that to his face.

All US 'Territories' should be allowed to vote on leaving the US, remaining a territory, or becoming a state. The referendum could have 2 rounds of voting if no option gets over 50%, or you could have a 60% threshold for passing leave or state, with territory being the default if neither pass.

Dumas' FATHER was born to a French count and an enslaved African women in Haiti. The Père was then brought to France, was educated, served in the military, etc.

"The Black Count" is a fantastic book about him.

His son is the author Alexander Dumas, and he based Count of Monte Cristo on his Dad.🇭🇹

I think Shakespeare provides us with an appropriate solution to those in ICE who haven't murdered or violated their victims, but who nevertheless aided in the terror and unlawful detention: Deport them, and let them hope they receive a better welcome than they themselves gave.

Sir Ian McKellen performing a monologue from Shakespeare’s Sir Thomas More on the Stephen Colbert show. Never have I heard this monologue performed with such a keen sense of prescience. Nor have I ever been in this exact historical moment.TY Sir Ian, for reaching us once again.

Also, side-bar on Helen of Troy: One of the older versions of her birth saw her as the child of Zeus and Nemesis - which would make her the *fully* divine child of justice (ironic, given Zeus' fuckery here) and retribution. Give me a movie about Helen, divine avatar of just retribution, you cowards!

Memnon, King of Aethiopa An Exploration of a Black King in Greco-Roman Mythology

In honor of both Black History Month and the current 'controversy' amongst chuds regarding Lupita Nyong'o being cast as Helen of Troy, I will resuscitate my relevant essays on Memnon - the Trojan-blooded King of Aethiopia - and Andromeda.
