I can definitely see the reason for some of the quoted replies though. The slum that ended up at Warwick Farm P&R doesn't exactly bode well for the reputation of such things - and it'll be council's job to clean it up if that happens, not the state.

And yes, it needed to be larger...

...which will be confusing when there is also state-run park-and-ride areas from the old staff parking

The upper levels have the same 18-hour free allowance as the Opal P&Rs, but the bottom is being plonked with only 6 hours free which... kinda half defeats the point...

The SMH having something nice to say (or anything to say at all) about things in the Macarthur? Colour me shocked. :o

Though that said, the fact that the previous feds paid for the new car park at Campbelltown station and not the state means it's *actually* not an Opal park-and-ride...

The Virgin America one was the first safety video I (and parents) had on an American airline, when we visited in 2016

Compared even to the heavily quirky ones of Air New Zealand coming over, this left... quite an "interesting" impression 🀨

Is it also little wonder that:
- It feels wrong to do weirder stuff at home sometimes, lest the doorbell ring, with being away from it giving me "permission" to think about that - and
- In recent times I've simply wanted respite from this place as often as I can? 😩

I hate living in fear of the doorbell, being told by my increasingly helpless neighbour (due to age, she's nice but scared) that something is wrong.

Dual occupancy when I feel like I have to take 99% of the responsibility is not fun.

I instinctively grabbed my earmuffs today, wonder why? πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«

Overnight, a C+C costs about $7 (a McChicken costs ~$8 usually, and they're practically the same except former has 1/2 cheese slice, other has lettuce)

I wonder if they still make coin at $3.50 - and if so, only shows how much they make it off the non-beef eaters with the "full" burger

09.10.2025 08:52 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

$7 would be a fair price to throw a *cheese*burger into it instead of a hamburger (U.P. about $9 with the C+C)

I wonder how much still trip/ped over it. The number of places not accepting the value menu would be minimal in NSW at least, even the airports do it.

McD's app offer: Hamburger plus Chicken+Cheese burger: $7!

Usual price... um, wait, $5.50 still. That's a bit daft. πŸ˜… ($2 and $3.50 respectively.)

"Value" πŸ™ƒπŸ™ƒ

Unless you get it after midnight where the value menu doesn't apply, and it'd be normally $11-12. Still dopey though.

Circular Quay Wharf temporary changes for maintenance From 13 October to Sunday 16 November, there will be a temporary closure at Circular Quay Wharf 2 due to maintenance.

Even the dates mentioned don't line up with the eventual announcement (see below), small point as that is.

What a confusing thing to read... πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«

The NRMA-run Manly fast ferry will run from the cruising wharf (no.6), while Watsons Bay/Double Bay ferries will also relocate.

Does the SMH even know what wharf 2 at Circular Quay even is? 🀨

I don't doubt that they might have to pull the big Freshwater ferries out because there might not be room on the adjacent wharf with the works going on.

But the article suggests it's the big wharf - actually wharf 3 - that's closing πŸ€”

I don't have that problem when I look at Google Drive locally. However people who share stuff with you *can* block downloading via advanced settings... it'd be strange they'd block that though while still letting you "make a copy" πŸ€”

VSOP, where the "VS" probably stands for "Very Stupid" πŸ™ƒ

Meanwhile the bods at LVMH must be cacking themselves laughing at the fallout.

Now if this were the Maroons returning after a successful State of Origin, rather than the Broncos... I *might* be a little less charitable πŸ˜‚

Actually hard to believe it's been almost two decades between drinks for them, titles-wise, given their 90s dominance

Rare case of a big crush at an airport gate hoping to see an *arrival*, but this is rugby league in Brisbane for you.

For both the men and the women, in this case.

Between this and the Lions winning last week... probably a decent time to be a sportsball fan up here.

I mean, semi-regional fares in general are heavily subsidised in many places now - off-peak to Newcastle for $9.65, weekends from Melbourne to anywhere in Vic for less than $8, etc

It's far from a bad thing, unless you're someone who panics over farebox recovery ratio...

It did remind me of how inland the North Coast line gets, though, and how rubbish the old "super-2" bit of the Sunshine Motorway is

I'm not sure I like future trains only being up to Kawana Waters as part of the "Wave" project (and metro-buses to Maroochydore), but it will be better than nothing...

(totally not using the latter's acronym right now, lol)

They were originally bought for the pre-Tilt Train Spirit of Capricorn, when they electrified the line up to Rocky

It's like the "death of an old friend" feeling that some folk are musing about the gradual loss of the V sets in Sydney πŸ€”

Also "Sunshine Coast, then Gympie North and back" for $1.50 (from yesterday) is still ridiculous when it probably would've cost me $34 for the day before the fares were dropped >_>

Gympie North on an NGR is weird though - doable, but I see why people miss the creaky but comfier Intercity Exp trains

I miss the days when NewsRadio was allowed to be this kinda geeky offshoot, being as it was a way to fill time not used by Parliament - much prefer that to contracting the off time to, say, the churchies like they do with the AM Network in New Zealand

but times have changed over 30 years...

I'd say I enjoyed not having to deal with the DST change yesterday (having been in Brisbane - head back today) and being able to sleep in

but the other side of the coin is "first light at 5am" and my blinds didn't *quite* close

it was *very* bright by 6.30am or so. Not the most fun. 🫠

When ABC NewsRadio was a lot more of a thing (it's basically been a zombie since they put more effort into the TV channel a decade ago)

one of the things on a "how hardcore ABC NR are you" quiz was "you carry five wristwatches" to line up with them doing 5 time calls every quarter hour in summer πŸ˜‚

Customers* rather (ugh)

I do wonder when there'll be enough NGR trains about that the reminder will have to be the other way around

It's a DDA thing of course; buttons on earlier trains were to the sides of the doors
