Listening to the most recent @techwontsave.us episode, & what comes to mind is that the UK government, in being so "AI-pilled", as @danmcquillan.bsky.social puts it, is essentially "pivot to video", but as a captured state - with an outcome as catastrophic (if not worse) waiting in the wings.

Our governments have ceded control over the development and introduction of technologies to a small set of people whose only 'qualification' is that they have lots of money. We need to change that!

But when I tried to cancel, it offered me the same price I was already paying — without the generative AI features I never asked for in the first place.
