In. Edinburgh? For a blaze of colour, and food for pollinating insects, why not collect a packet of seeds from St John's Church, Princes St. Edinburgh this Sunday 15th, from 12.00. To guarantee a packet, come to the service at 10.30.

Heat pumps are the most efficient heating technology ever invented.

They harvest and compress pre existing heat in the air, ground or water and transport it where it is needed.

That energy is all around us. It does not have to pass through the Strait of Hormuz or any other geopolitical chokepoint.

And if, instead, lots of GPs had said they *had* refused to sign people off for mental health reasons, that would have been spun as "there are lots of chancers out there" in exactly the same way!

i am not an expert on energy policy but there’s no way that pegging the price of electricity including renewables to the price of fossil fuels in times of ecological collapse due to the latter incentivises sustainable behaviour by anyone

Women and girls walk more than men and boys at all ages. If we want to improve gender equality in travel, the best way is to spend more on pedestrians. bit.ly/4cuYRwl

THIS. If you’re in central Glasgow tonight please close your windows; if you have to be out please wear the best mask you have available. If you can smell it, you’re at risk.

Request for help: My daughter’s doing her 3rd year Psychology research dissertation on theory of mind and traits associated with autism. If you could spare 20-30 mins to complete her online survey that’d be an enormous help. DM me for the link and blurb.

Advice to passengers is simple:
NEVER buy Super-Off-Peak, Off-Peak or Anytime tickets in advance.
ALWAYS buy on the day, 5 minutes before you board the train.
If you buy in advance, any on-the-day change of plan could lose you £100s on a long journey.
Even with a flexible ticket.

Official Team GB Paralympic photo, with the the crests and everything, and a professional headshot, but it's for "Pickle, A Very Good Girl", who is a black labrador, with a hi-viz harness and a red collar.

Some of you like dogs, in which case you may appreciate that guide dogs of Team GB for the Paralympics get official photos

I remember once going to an Indian restaurant in the US when I was there for work. The proprietors greeted us cautiously, but as soon as they learned we'd all lived in the UK, they relaxed – apparently the locals often complained about the food being too spicy (it was mild by my standards).

So push down the past injuries.“Thank you for being here.” “I appreciate you listening.” “That’s a good thought.”

Kindness. Grace. Compassion. Good humour. It almost never makes things worse, and you never know, it might just work.

I was a teacher for a long time and I’ve been a parent for almost as long again, and if there is one life lesson I wish everyone could magically grasp it would be this:

Don’t criticise the behaviour you want to see.

Thank you for continuing to support your trans friends! ☺️ I've had a few conversations recently with people asking questions in good faith. That gives me hope.

The anti trans discourse has gotten so bad now, that some friends are starting to look at me like I'm a crank whenever I defend trans rights and viewpoints. The propaganda onslaught over the past 10 years has been devastating 😡

"your Lenten sermon was too dispiriting. you have lost five parishioners."

Crocheted Pangolin - Little Conkers Crocheted Pangolin - Crocheting a pangolin with a crochet pattern by Pernille Heelsberg. This is fairly extreme crochet, involving more advanced amigurumi techniques, and the famous crocodile stitch.

It's world #pangolin day!
One time I crocheted a pangolin - that's like an extreme sport in the #crochet world.

Not the key point, but all the 'Andrew Mountbatten Windsor' coverage shows how quickly and easily the entire UK media complex can switch to someone's new name/title, even after using their old one for decades, when it's an incredibly pampered white male deviant. So, you know, it's not *that* hard...
