John Carmichael reports to the Ontario govt as chair of the OSC board.

He is not independent.
He is accountable to Doug Ford.

He also received the King Charles III Coronation Medal in 2025, after he closed the #ontariosciencecentre

'Boys will be boys'. Free pass. Assaults, derogatory words, day to day harassment. Remember dogs know the word 'no' better than most males do. Use search term: "Ways My Parents Unintentionally Taught Me That My Consent Didn't Matter" for a variety of results. Media perfunctory clickbait reporting.

Supporting Mark Carney doesn’t mean agreeing with everything he says or does. He’s not above criticism. And we don’t all have to agree with each other either β€” that’s called a difference of opinion.

@PierrePoilievre
Liberals, especially current Justice Minister Fraser, destroyed the immigration system in Canada.
Mark Carney’s promise to fix it was another illusion.

He keeps foreign criminals here, allows them to get sentencing discounts, and pays deluxe benefits to fraudulent asylum claimantsβ€”benefits that Canadians don’t get.

Liberals will never clean up their own mess.

After that speech in Toronto last week skeptics pointed out Poilievre had finally said the β€œright” things but would it last, questioning could he do it tomorrow and the next day and the next? Knowing he couldn’t. I see it didn’t take long to get the answer.

As we wrap up Black History Month, we reflect with gratitude on the leaders, advocates, and community builders who have shaped our province and our country.

Celebrating Black history is not limited to one month. Diversity, inclusion, and justice must be part of our work all year long.

My fellow Canadians,

I am deeply disturbed by the precedent set by Prime Minister Mark Carney's statement on February 28th regarding the US and Israel attack on Iran. We know that this attack was not about Iran's nuclear program.

The Prime Minister's statement rightly acknowledges Iran as a source of instability and terrorism. However, this was an unprovoked attack by the United States that has come in a sequential chain of other unprovoked attacks, on Venezuela, Mexico, and more.

The imperialist agenda of the United States is currently the largest threat to human rights globally right now. The economic embargo on Cuba, the ICE concentration camps, and the constant threats to sovereign countries must be addressed.

I understand that the Prime Minister is attempting to make many important economic partnerships internationally. But as a Canadian, we need to also make humanitarian partnerships. We need to send more aid to Cuba, we need to speak out against the false wars initiated by President Trump, and we need to start preparation for refugees from the United States. This last item needs immediate attention, given the housing crisis in Canada, the recent change in our immigration policy, and the growing human rights crisis in the US.

Mark Carney has had a long successful career as a businessman. I understand that's his approach right now as he travels to forge economic partnerships. But Canada needs a vocal leader of human rights as well.

How to stop a dictator I spent months studying how authoritarians like Trump lose. The answer is shockingly simple.

I have spent the past several months studying the cutting-edge research on modern democracies that have defeated authoritarian leaders.

I've learned that the conventional wisdom on the topic is wrong β€”Β in ways that have clear implications for the US going forward

From Palestine to Iran to Sudan, we normalize the destruction of schools and hospitals and daycares. We reduce children to death tolls and their futures to rubble with no consequence or second thought.

OCASIO-CORTEZ STATEMENT ON
TRUMP'S COMBAT OPERATIONS IN IRAN
"The American people are once again dragged into a war they did not want by a president who does not care about the long-term consequences of his actions. This war is unlawful. It is unnecessary. And it will be catastrophic.

"Just this week, Iran and the United States were negotiating key measures that could have staved off war. The President walked away from these discussions and chose war instead.President Trump flippantly acknowledged the possibility of American casualties, stating "that often happens in war.'

"Mr. President: this was not an inevitability. This is a deliberate choice of aggression when diplomacy and security were within reach. Stop lying to the American people.

"Violence begets violence. We learned this lesson in Iraq. We learned this lesson in Afghanistan. And we are about to learn it again in Iran. Bombs have yet to create enduring democracies in the region and this will be no different.

"In moments of war, our Constitution is unambiguous: Congress authorizes war. The President does not. I will do my part to uphold our Constitution by voting YES on Representatives Ro Khanna and Thomas Massie's War Powers Resolution. Every member of Congress must join us in rejecting this aimless war.
