TSA Lines Are About To Get A Lot Worse Agents will miss their first full paycheck this week, and union officials say they expect resignations to start increasing if there's no resolution.

TSA lines at airports nationwide are about to get a whole lot worse

The belief that some form of tax cut solves every problem has been bipartisan myth for two generations now. The parties only differ on who gets them and how much they get.

The concept of extracting and owning someone’s human capital should be the first clue. In a “traditional” labor market this is rented, but if you own it…

This is one reason why I always teach that enslavement “production functions” are misspecified— labor and capital and not cleanly separated.

When economists say that AI will change the economy due to labor-as-capital (a worker’s skill and knowledge can be used to train AI, scaled, leveraged and/or commodified), I don’t think it occurs to them that labor-as-capital also applied to American slavery.

Even though I'm an economist, I wish there was more focus on the human suffering from this war and less focus on the economic consequences. Hundreds of little girls are dead, and we're worried about oil prices.

2025 was a decided attack on Black women’s employment. The administration stripped away the security and worker protections of government employment and turned it into an economic weapon.

I am always glad to see Black women being centered in our own stories about the workforce and the workplace.

One thing I want to note is that across multiple sectors, the net employment loss Black women have experienced is closer to 216,000 from 2024-2025 according to @epi.org.

This is a major development. The American Economic Association (AEA) and the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) are the most powerful groups of economists in the world.

Q: You said the war is 'very complete.' But your defense secretary says 'this is just the beginning.' So which is it?

TRUMP: You could say both

You’d need something different than increasing wages to explain Black women’s labor supply, however. @itsafronomics.blacksky.app discusses much of this research in her book.

The whole narrative around humanities research has enabled this. It’s a disaster with real material consequences.

According to DOGE flunky, a documentary about the experiences of Jewish women's slave labor during the Holocaust is "inherently discriminatory." Come ON.

While people emboldened and enabled by the federal government went on a directed mission to eliminate approved projects from the National Endowment for the Humanities, we are supposed to believe that the real problem in the humanities is the private, “woke” Mellon Foundation…

As this was happening you were told shoplifting and home invasions were grave threats you needed to abandon any pretense of sympathy to address.

Targeting a program designed to address the homogeneous faculty of business schools, which corporate leaders wanted, is a choice.

I’m sure Trump anticipated all of this happening and has a great plan.

5 Lessons from the End of the Larry Summers Era Summers’ influence was immense, but so were his blind spots. It’s time for economics that values people and the planet over power and prestige.

It would be only fair to the reader to say frankly in advance that the attitude of any person toward this story will be distinctly influenced by his theories of the Negro race. If he believes that the Negro in America and in general is an average and ordinary human being, who under given environment develops like other human beings, then he will read this story and judge it by the facts adduced. If, however, he regards the Negro as a distinctly inferior creation, who can never successfully take part in modern civilization and whose emancipation and enfranchisement were gestures against nature, then he will need something more than the sort of facts that I have set down. But this latter person, I am not trying to convince. I am simply pointing out these two points of view, so obvious to Americans, and then without further ado, I am assuming the truth of the first. In fine, I am going to tell this story as though Negroes were ordinary human beings, realizing that this attitude will from the first seriously curtail my audience.

I'd forgotten how hard the preface to DuBois's "Black Reconstruction" (1934) went...and am saddened by how contemporary it still feels.

This! We also need to be clear that Black men are disproportionately disenfranchised. Only about 1/3 of the Black electorate is Black men. No other demographic has such a gender imbalance.

Black men vote Democratic more than any ethnicity and gender besides Black women and Jewish women.

They're the most reliable Democratic voting demographic among men, and get little credit for it because there's so much focus on the loud (and annoying) 20% that insist on voting for the GOP and MAGA.

People with no track record of turning Black voters out should have no sway in the 2028 campaign. You have to have a strategy that leverages community connections and engagement. Period.

Caitlin KALINOWSKI over X

I resigned from OpenAl. I care deeply about the Robotics team and the work we built together.
This wasn't an easy call. Al has an important role in national security. But surveillance of Americans without judicial oversight and lethal autonomy without human authorization are lines that deserved more deliberation than they got. This was about principle, not people. I have deep respect for Sam and the team, and I'm proud of what we built together.

OpenAI head of robotics just resigned over company deal with the Pentagon saying…
