Trying something out. This is me describing what surprised me about Naked Lunch. It's a clip from episode 2 of Right Where You Are Sitting Now, my podcast series on William Burroughs. I think there should be a Bluesky student newspaper, I think we'd all be really good at it

Angrily watching YouTube videos where all they do is eat for days for so cheap out of Japanese vending machines & convenience stores as my eyes water and stomach rumbles and my soul is achingly aware of what stage of capitalism it is, to envy another nation's vending machines & convenience stores

So glad someone is calling out these loons. They really make reasonable Spidey fans like me seem nuts by association whenever I try to talk about the importance of the underarm webbing

This presupposes that the job of most people on social media is to be paying customers for the special people.

Democrats continue to lose elections because they run bland centrists nobody likes, chase Republican votes, and fail the most baseline ideological tests. They listen to big donors and connected strategists to the exclusion of their own constituents and are welded to an ancient calcified leadership

4. Write and sell screenplay of 3!

Also, I’m a big fan of having an Anker nano charger in my bag for exactly this reason: www.walmart.com/ip/Anker-621...

(Good luck!)

This is one of those β€œoh right, social media can be good actually” threads. I learned so much in such a short, entertaining time. Great stuff.

The "Salieri seeing Mozart compose" analogy is wrong because I'm not a cartoonist (nor even as good at anything I do as Salieri was), but the sense of bafflement and frustration and inklings of understanding and awe is very much the same.

a cartoon dog is carrying a box on a train track Alt: a cartoon dog (Gromit) is riding on top of a disconnected model train car, using a box of model train track to quickly assemble the path on which the train is riding.

Man, reading Chainsaw Man on day of release is really rewriting my map in all kinds of ways.

It feels more like a performance, a living in the moment thing, than an artistic construction? Even though every other manga-ka is doing the same, it feels so much more like I'm watching this:

I already thought this pencil portrait Jack Kirby did of his wife Roz was great but then I read the caption: "A drawing of Mrs. Kirby done, from memory, on the back of a piece of German stationery picked up off a dead enemy soldier." DAAAAMMMMNNN!

(Also, I wouldn’t expect it of either Fox or the WSJ, but are pollsters asking if people think American democracy is dead, or if we’re living in a dictatorship or are just dictatorship-adjacent? Shouldn’t they?)

This is mid-thread so please check out the whole thing. Me, I think a lot of the Ds currently in office should be removed, but a lot of the GOP should be *in prison for knowingly aiding in sedition* and the flattening of those opinions makes them resemble one another when they really don’t

What’s also great is the publishers don’t seem to care either. Utter lack of transparency or accountability! Woo!

The β€œgreat” thing about Comixology/Amazon having nearly nothing listed as new releases for tomorrow and Wednesday is that maybe it isn’t someone’s fuck up?

Maybe Amazon just decided it wasn’t worth their time to keep doing it and didn’t bother to let everyone know!

Actually, Rich Buckler as well? Not in the FF and other stuff where he was pressured to keep to the house style, but there’s some similar stuff in Deathlok and the issues he did of Panther’s Rage.

Yeah, I think the New Edition gets it just rightβ€”all of Morrison’s stuff, nothing else. I didn’t read the Legion of 3 Worlds stuff and might do so in a week or so but I was really glad it wasn’t in there.

Anyway.

I can't speak to the Absolute Editions or the Omnibus or anythingβ€”but don't settle for anything less than the Final Crisis (New Edition) trade.

It's kind of a majestic read, and maybe even a necessary one in these times, alas (5/end)

And when it's there, it's there for effect.

Additionally, reading it after reading Multiversity is a huge bonusβ€”the throughline in Multiversity is thematically mirrored in Final Crisis enough that FC feels almost like a sequel? But certainly a companion piece. (4/?)
