I just finished this (I think) on the same day. Sunday? This combo of romance and Horror really did it for me as well. I read a decent-ish amount of romance but Finch and Aku just feel next level to me. And yeah the Cosmic Horror and space/time parts were really something. It’s been on my mind a lot

Omg makes me think of The Demonologist and the idea that if it rains blood in someone’s house, it had to *come* from somewhere else, it couldn’t be generated from nothing. Not that he’s a scientist or true expert but… just a cool/horrible/interesting rule to consider

Synopsis: When Kara's miner father dies of Silicosis, she grapples with the old horror stories in their hometown of Barre, Vermont. Stories she insisted she didn't believe. Like dead miners walking the five miles of road between Hope Cemetery and Rock of Ages quarry to resume their work, making believers of anyone who interrupted their nightly march. A terrifying encounter at the cemetery the night of his burial rips the tarp off old memories she'd suppressed, making it near impossible to believe that her father’s body is at rest. In her quest to help her father, she learns he cheated death as a teenager, and his closest friend wasn’t so lucky. A regular at the local grill remembers a horrible mechanical being watching them from a tree that night. When cryptids, an interdimensional creature, and an old god creep out of the shadows, Kara knows she’s getting closer to the truth, but the path to her endgame grows treacherous. The Barre Incidents is Cosmic Horror with Dark Fantasy and Found Footage elements. It’s an exploration of love born under the shadow of grief in a world where horrible and awesome magic are everywhere for those who dare to wrap their hands around it.

Premise: When Rachelle unearths her ex’s handmade crystal radio, violence and terror reign in the form of hellhounds, shadow figures, and finally, possessions. Enter smooth, dark-eyed James Carroway. He offers her protection she’s quick to accept despite her apprehensions. When James reveals he’s a warlock in search of the crystal radio that caused these supernatural events, Rachelle explains it belonged to her son’s estranged father, Chad. They realize it played a part in Chad’s possession. Their only option is to find Chad and learn about the origins of the radio before more of her family are killed. Or worse, taken. Rachelle has to risk losing the people she loves (again) to make it stop.

I used to do this all the time when I was 13 to see if I could get negative attention. But the temptation to eat it was so high so I’d just be standing around biting my cigarette and it was gone in a couple of minutes
