I’ve been selected for jury duty.

To be completely honest, you don’t want someone who fancied Dean Tanaka in the mid 90s before realising he was actually a horrible man helping to make decisions about crime and punishment.
I should be the defendant and I will plead guilty for my past crimes.

We have known Ella her whole life as she was my MILs cat and we she passed away, Ella came home with us. She is the queen. Pol and Zo came to us from a squat house as teenagers. Nyssa was a farm cat and you can’t half tell! All from shelters.

Ella, Polly, Zoë all have some form of trauma from before living with us so must eat everything there and then. Nyssa is just a greedy sausage.
Ella needs her old lady check up - she’s on arthritis meds and has a heart murmur. Zo needs some extra bloodwork done. We love our babies so much ❤️

Ella was left home alone because she needs extra old lady tests, so she’ll go with Zoë next time.
The way her little face lit up when all her minions came home was so beautiful. Gosh I love them all so hard! Photo of said cats. 🥰

Took 3 cats to the vet today for their regular check ups and vaccinations etc etc. Zoë has lost 1.5kg and for a small cat, that’s a lot. She’ll go back in three weeks for a blood test just in case. Pol has also lost a kilo. Nyssa though has put on 2 kilos so many she stole that from the other 2. 🤭

Yesterday was a real muddy mind day with stuff, but better today which is good. Still in a little shock but that’s normal when you get news like that.

It’s also 5 months since the discard today and um, I’m actually feeling fine about it. Is this healing? If so, it’s really nice. 🥰

It’s an odd feeling they are gone because we had a great friendship for many years before the darkness set in due to their circumstances. I’m a very forgiving person (to my own detriment at times) but they took it far enough for me to feel unsafe. 😕

I know I did my best to help them as much as I could with emotional and financial support but they needed more than I could provide. We’ve been able to peace together their last few days on social media which has been unsettling and I’m totally sure how to work through the feelings right now.

TW: Suicide.

I found out that someone I used to know ended their life over the weekend. We were friends for around 18 years but things took a bad turn between us around 2 years ago. I’m finding it hard to look back on those good years without acknowledging the reasons why I had to leave.
