Some clubs you watch on your travels will never leave you. The colours help, but it's the people, the fans, the ground and the town that makes some teams stand out. Avellino is among the finest of them.

I genuinely don't like them. Possibly wrong age to have done so as some of the original dislike was reactionary. I get the showmanship of Mercury though, and how that would've drawn people in.

I can't stand that either but for me it's pretty much anything by Queen, but particularly Bohemain Rhapsody. Many a time I have driven abroad and scrambled to hit the radio dial to avoid hearing it.

If you’re at a loose end this Saturday, thoroughly recommended.

We’ll have a beer, some chocolate then watch a ball waft about at one of the most stunning grounds in England.

New for @terraceedition.bsky.social

I went to the Sheffield derby. Wednesday and United.

This fiesta of foes but it's hard not to like them both as an outsider and what they bring to English terrace culture. #swfc #sufc

I have no desire to ever watch either club or visit the stadiums. It's one of only 2 European capitals I haven't visited so I will go to the city, but I will look to the lower leagues for the footie tick.

Sestao River Club by me for Terrace Edition.
One of my favourite places to watch football. Localness abounds.

"Relegations and promotions happen, 99% of clubs have a ceiling they can’t go above but as most fans know that's an irrelevance, the joy is in the club itself and all that it represents."

Without doubt, one of my favourite away days with Argyle. And I believe, the only time in EFL history, the away won despite having 3 players sent off.

It is and it's such a great city football club as well. Athletic are the pinnacle but teams like Sestao and Barakaldo have great support and are top places to watch games at.

A pleasure penning this and shooting the wonderful San Mames as well - photographing empty grounds isn't normally my thing but it was fun to be tested this way. I got lucky with the timing of the sunshine halo and the groundsmen doing their thing as well. Bilbao is terrific and I'll revisit.

Never tried theirs but when I was in Bucharest in the Autumn, the beers from the Carol Brewery were exceptional. Had some other good ones but the Carol ones were outstanding.

A deserved win for Parkway whose dominant first-half display was rewarded with two goals. The second-half was closer but it was Parkway who created the clearer chances. The Alfred Davis remains a gem of a ground.

A first visit to the gTech, given Griffin Pk was a classic, it is a likeable ground. Even game chance wise, quality away support, fine winner and a memorable day. Tomas Frank showed a lot of class after πŸ‘

A very enjoyable game which included 3 long-range goals. The pitch at Chard is so steep it prevents them progressing up the pyramid but in beautiful winter sunshine it was a joy to photograph.

Quite. Plus the fact that much as you wouldn't want to see it, you could have a front row seat for your clubs record defeat and all the years you can dine out on by saying you were there for it.

It comes to something when only losing 2-0 away near constitutes an away win! Still It sounded an improved performance so hopefully we can build on it.
