People with milder #aphasia are often discharged early from rehabilitation as they are perceived to be “recovered.” And yet - they experience frustrating language difficulties, reduced confidence, and difficulty keeping up in conversations and returning to work. 1/5

10.01.2025 21:37 — 👍 4 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Bluesky tips for #sbkySPEECHIES 1. If you’ve moved from the other place, don’t delete your account there. Even if you think you’re a nobody, someone (mischievous or malicious) may hijack your ID (use your @handle) and post awful things in your name. 2. Top tip from @irvinewelsh.bsky.social BEFORE you start following people, add a profile picture and banner picture and fill out your bio. Then, “tweet” (i.e., post) 5-to-10 posts so people you know will recognise you. 3. Add a hashtag or two to your bio, maybe 🦋 #bskySPEECHIES . 4. Look for your tribe, beginning with “starter packs”. Search speech here https://blueskydirectory.com/starter-packs/ 5. Alt text. In ⚙️Settings, go to Accessibility. ✔︎ Require alt text before posting. 6. Threads. In ⚙️ Settings go to Thread Preferences. ✔︎ Show replies in threaded view. 7. If you ❤️ "like" a re-post it won’t show up in notifications. You’ll experience more acknowledgement and action if you quote-post or post. 8. Don’t feed the 👹trolls by replying-to or re-posting their stuff. Block. Leave them to stew in their own toxic juice. 9. Tell your TweepXs where you are! 10. My top tip. Interact! Start and/or continue conversations. Don’t just like ❤️…though that’s nice… comment on, react to, and augment others’ posts. I have only been here since August 19, 2024, so there’s lots I don't know. It would be great if you quote posted this with your own hot tips!
Many people joined Bluesky recently, so I'm re-posting tips for newbies like @juliastarling.bsky.social @lovethatsmile.bsky.social @grasp-speech-lang.bsky.social @tachacslt.bsky.social @kirstyblewer.bsky.social @miranda-rose.bsky.social @katiestrongslp.bsky.social and lots of other 🦋 #bskySPEECHIES❣️
