I bounced on affinity pretty quickly but ill look again. I find I bounce less if I have a specific project and when I was messing around last time it didnt have a lot of focus.

Oh we were using Blender on Black Panther, thanks to @jeryce.bsky.social . So I am already on that boat.

I do think it has some animation tool shortcomings but from a tool support standpoint its python implementation is light years ahead of Maya.

A picture of me at 17 years old in 1989 using a very old Apple Mac and one of the first (if not first) versions of Adobe illustrator in 1989. There are floppy disks.

And I have used illustrator continually longer than any other app.

This is no hyperbole. I have a highschool yearbook from 1989 that has a picture of me working in illustrator 88. And at that point I had been using it for over a year.

Clip groups are wonky as fuck from a UX standpoint
Font and glyph placement are also a little rough

BUT so much good and actually better in some cases that ilustrator. - Export dialog I am looking at you.

during my post studio shutdown life I have been using open source / free / cheap as fuck alternates for a lot of the apps I normally use, and I have to say, Inkscape is really fucking good.

Like maybe I dont go back to illustrator ever really good.
