Okay, officecore Gone Home is 1000% my thing. Sold.

It’s almost done. Just editing everything so it’s sub-ready. Hopefully it goes smoothly, it’s the best thing I’ve written—or the most fun I’ve had I should say.

It’s like a guns & sorcery? Idk, I wrote my S&S novella, then looked at the short and went “huh” realizing I hit almost all the facets of S&S unintentionally.

In terms of on the whole, it’s cool to see how everyone’s doing. Really humanizes a (mostly) very lonely hobby lol.

On the project side, I’m happy that my MC is going as I imagined. Writing a rather POS stubborn/arrogant girlfailure is a hard one, but I think I’m nailing it.

Almost got a bachelor’s in history, got one in business. Thinking of settling for a minors in history but ehhh, that’s not a real degree, really.

I’m all good! When in doubt I got an almost-history not-really-degree worth of research skills to fall back on.

Plot and character wise I’m all good. Working one character is a bit of a toughie, but it’s just cus it’s a more complex character.

it’s slowgoing as per usual. But still, happy with what I have. Happy that my plotting was TOO TIGHT, and I got some space for extra worldbuilding and character interaction.

It’s an entire I had in college, and now I feel good enough to do it justice!

Satisfying is how immaculate the spine of my copy of Bookshops & Bonedust is. Like, damn, son.

That sudden realization on the ven diagram crossover between cowboy western stories (ala wander stranger etc) and sword & sorcery is wild.

I thought I was writing a frontier story, I’m just writing historical black powder & sorcery.

My progress is slow, but I’m satisfied with what I’m writing. Have I only written 5-6 3-4K chapters? Maybe.

I mean, I also did write a 10K novellette in two days, but this is about my #FirstDraftFall project lmao.

Uhhhhh, today and over the weekend, I wrote in total 500 words of my #FirstDraftFall project and then, in a spark of inspiration wrote a 10K Sword & Sorcery novelette.

It’s doing well? I’ve realized that my pacing might be TOO tight, so I have time to breathe. And like, the MC actually needs to interact with the guilty party more than once? I got space to worldbuild! WOOOO.

I don’t have any for super long-term blockage. But if it’s just a sudden thing, I’d recommend just interlizing and asking the big Q of why. It could range from something personal to just your brain telling you to do something different.

If I do feel a stall in my typing, then I have to list my priorities. If it’s something that can be addressed, then I move to that. Idk, I’m very cattish, so it’s usually more like “Nah, I just wanna watch a movie.” I don’t ever really get block-blocked with writing overall.

I personally do not. I subscribe to (I think it was her —heard it on Writing Excuses like 7 years ago) the Robin Hobb ideaology, that it’s your brain telling you you got other stuff to do. Whether that’s life stuff or other projects.

It’s simple, but I’m very happy with that descriptor.
