if he was truly okay with giving his quirk up, why did he still long to be a hero? (part 2 of this line)
“thinking, ‘if there’s nothing missing in my life, then why do these tears come at night?’” during the final battle, izuku willingly let go of one for all. he made his peace with it, telling bakugou, “i’m back to the person i was in the first place.” (part 1 of this line)
“but she cry, cry, cries in her lonely heart” having a quirk meant izuku got to be a hero, but heroism wasn’t everything he thought it would be. it came with the heavy burden of one for all and having to be the one to end all for one.
“and they say, ‘she’s so lucky, she’s a star’” when one for all was no longer kept a secret, some viewed izuku as lucky. he was born quirkless, but his idol passed along a power to him, allowing him to fulfill his dream of becoming a hero.
edit analysis part 6
“isn’t she lovely, this hollywood girl?” izuku was the embodiment of a golden student. he was powerful and willing to save everyone, even at his own expense. this is what caused him to stand out from his classmates.

“slit my throat, that’s all i ever” - all he ever wanted was to be a hero, and he died a hero. the all might card falling from his pocket was the same one he got as a kid. dreaming to be number one was all he ever had.
“i don’t, i don’t believe its sad” - like before, losing bakugou was horrifying to deku, but bakugou saw it as a means to an end. he did what he had to win. (the backing vocal of “i don’t” can be interpreted as deku disagreeing. he does believe it’s sad.)
“slit my throat, that’s all i ever had” - shigaraki decayed his arm, paralyzing it. without his palms, his quirk didn’t work. his quirk was all he ever had since the age of five.
“i don’t, i don’t believe it’s bad” - deku was so upset by bakugou taking a hit for him that he left ua because he thought his classmates would be safer. bakugou didn’t view what he’d done as a bad thing. he protected all might’s successor and reminded deku that he wasn’t alone.
“separate my side” - in a literal sense, his sides were separated. in a figurative sense, he let go of the grudge he held against deku.
edit analysis part 5
“how long, how long will i slide?” - when bakugou saw shigaraki about to strike deku, he realized how many years he spent hating him. how long did he plan to go without apologizing? in that moment, bakugou almost lost deku without having told him the truth.

“forever winter if you go” - if bakugou hadn’t been revived, deku likely would’ve blamed himself for the loss, forever wondering why he wasn’t fast enough.
“i’ll be summer sun for you forever” - their whole lives, deku encouraged bakugou and believed in him. that behavior never stopped during the bullying.
he thought he ruined the symbol of peace, not knowing that one day, he’d save all might and fight alongside deku. (part 2 for this line)
“too young to know it gets better” - as a first year, bakugou feared not being the best. deku beating him during a fight was enough to send him into a spiral, and not being strong enough to stop all might from losing his quirk weighed on him heavily. (part 1 for this line)
“i’d fall to pieces on the floor if you weren’t around” - deku lost control of one for all when he found what shigaraki had done to bakugou.
edit analysis part 4
“all this time i didn’t know you were breaking down” - deku didn’t realize that bakugou still carried guilt from bullying him. he didn’t expect bakugou to break down in the hospital.

"like i used to feel you breathe" - after bakugou was revived, he and deku only had mere minutes to *truly* enjoy fighting alongside each other. it was the first (and last) time they got to be heroes together after bakugou’s apology.
"and i feel you forget me" - deku felt bakugou give up on their hero dreams. “chasing after each other, our whole lives,” was said with resignation. in that moment, bakugou knew their dreams were over—already forgetting the hero deku had become and focusing on him being quirkless again.
"so i’ll watch your life in pictures like i used to watch you sleep" - after graduating, deku lost touch with his friends, but he kept up with them through the media.
"i love you, im sorry" - bakugou was only targeted because he was the closest person to deku. he was killed because deku loved him.
"lay on the horn to prove that it haunts me" - deku was so upset upon seeing what shigaraki had done to bakugou that he momentarily lost control of one for all. his power going out of control proved to everyone that losing his best friend will always haunt him.
"joyriding down our road" - when bakugou died, he remembered skipping down the road with deku, holding their all might cards. deku remembered the same thing when he saw bakugou’s blood soaked card.
edit analysis part 3
"the way life goes" - things didn’t go to plan when deku got pulled through the warp gate and separated from bakugou during the war.

Another edit analysis
“remember when we couldn’t take the heat? i walked out, i said “im setting you free”
deku couldn’t handle watching bakugou take a hit for him (aka “the heat”). so, he walked away from u.a. to set bakugou and 1a “free” from the burden of one for all.

“did you miss me while you were looking for yourself out there?” this line goes both ways. did bakugou miss deku while he was establishing his career as a pro hero? and did deku miss bakugou while he was finding his footing being quirkless and teaching the next generation of heroes?
“and tell me, did venus blow your mind? was it everything you wanted to find?” bakugou’s battle against afo was mind blowing to not only deku, but bakugou himself. it was everything bakugo wanted—saving all might and making up for kamino, and awakening his quirk
“and head back to the milky way” bakugou didn’t stay dead, he *headed back* for deku. which is why they’re depicted as the binary stars in this edit—he’s bakugou’s world/galaxy
“did you finally get the chance to dance along the light of day?”bakugou finally got the chance to ask all might to sign his card and to let down the remaining fragments of his tough facade, finally being himself (dancing along the light of day—*freedom* emotionally)
“tell me, did the wind sweep you off your feet?” shigaraki swept bakugou off his feet, putting a halt to his dreams and his life.
