I read Haunting of Hill House a while ago and it really stuck with me. Not only is it the foundation of modern “Haunted House” stories, but it’s also a gut wrenching story about trust between friends disintegrating away. Highly recommend!

Been making a couple skullgirls gameplay videos. Skullgirls is like the niche sub-genre of a niche genre so I don’t expect to actually gain traction. HOWEVER, I get to use cool music I like and feel productive! That’s a win for me!

It also uses religious themes excellently to provide a satirical mockery of a moral compass to the story. Woodworm reaffirms my opinion that Christian symbolism provides a rich bed of soil to the horror genre, and I am exited to springboard off of this discovery and read more religion based horror.

If you enjoy the Haunted House sub genre of horror, you will get a kick out of Woodworm. The home which the main family lives in is steeped in their misery, developing its own identity through their suffering.

Just finished “Woodworm”, a novel about hatred, resentment, and how contempt can twist people into unrecognizable shapes. This was a delightfully grueling read for such a small book, as the first person language is full of venom and debilitating contempt towards family and foe alike.

It showed me how easy it is to accept those tragedies as normal, to become desensitized to the physical, social, and mental violence that occurs every day. I judged myself through this text and saw areas in which I could improve. Overall a very eye opening experience for me. Would highly recommend.

I won’t pretend to fully grasp the texts full message, but it was still a heart wrenching experience to read. Citizen explores racism in America on a personal level. It interprets the everyday interactions with and reactions too racism, both casual and openly hostile in nature.

Just finished Citizen, I found it in a little bookstore yesterday because the excerpt on the back seemed intriguing to me. I will admit I didn’t know what it meant at the time, but I think it perfectly evokes the call to action that the text is trying to give.
