True, but even just their basic shape and structure tells you immediately who they are, upon first glance. The best example I can think of is all of Chester Gould’s work.

I mean, it’s essential for cartooning. Comics in particular generally being character driven, I feel it has absolutely got to be considered.

I’m thinking about giving a lecture series on character designs for comic book art. A prominent cartoonist told me learning character design for comics is unnecessary, but I don’t think that’s true in the least. Thoughts?
