A family friend was telling us about what her husband shared about his experience in Broadview before he was deported back to Mexico. She's been sharing to friends and family because she's just in disbelief & horror what her husband told her. She wasn't able to talk to him until he was in Mexico.

XMTR Festival Selects: 1001 Stabs β€” (( XMTR )) Lina Prestwood (UK, 2025)

My friend Lina Prestwood produced this audio piece which (and I don't usually say this), you absolutely have to listen to.

It's a poem about what it is to grow up in Gaza, written by someone (who is remaining anonymous) from Gaza.

It's called 1001 Stabs. An incredible piece of writing and audio

Had a lot of fun reporting this piece about the Endeavor, a ship that has facilitated a TON of research (a boatload of research if you will?) in the Atlantic, especially, the Gulf Stream!

The DeSantis administration has not made public a list of names of the immigrants held at the facility in heavy duty tents at an airstrip in the Florida Everglades.
Individuals sent to the makeshift detention center do not show up in an
online government database that allows the public to search for immigrant detainees' whereabouts. Lawyers say they
have had difficulty locating clients sent to the site, often learning that they are there when detainees call family members.

An enforced disappearance is considered to be the arrest, detention, abduction or any other form of deprivation of liberty by agents of the State or by persons or groups of persons acting with the authorization, support or acquiescence of the State, followed by a refusal to acknowledge the deprivation of liberty or by concealment of the fate or whereabouts of the disappeared person, which place such a person outside the protection of the law (Article 2 of the ICPED and Preamble of the Declaration on the Protection of all Persons from Enforced Disappearance)
It is characterized by three cumulative elements (defined in A/HRC/16/48/Add.3):
1. Deprivation of liberty against the will of the person;
2. Involvement of government officials, at least by acquiescence;
3. Refusal to acknowledge the deprivation of liberty or concealment of the fate or whereabouts of the disappeared

Florida is committing "enforced disappearance," a very serious violation of international human rights law.

What many of us warned, & what is unavoidably clear now, is that there is no privileged sphere of "real life" that is sheltered, separate from the information environment. It's narratives all the way down -- even to the point that they shape *how people experience their own material circumstances*.

Big banks predict catastrophic warming, with profit potential Morgan Stanley, JPMorgan and an international banking group have quietly concluded that climate change will likely exceed the Paris Agreement's 2 degree

Top Wall Street institutions are prepping for global warming that blows past the Paris Agreement.

"We now expect a 3Β°C world," Morgan Stanley analysts wrote, a scenario in which harvest failures are widespread and sea-level rise is measured in feet rather than inches.

This section of the text of President Trump's EO reads:

Once widely respected as a symbol of American excellence and a global icon of cultural achievement, the Smithsonian Institution has, in recent years, come under the influence of a divisive, race-centered ideology. This shift has promoted narratives that portray American and Western values as inherently harmful and oppressive. For example, the Smithsonian American Art Museum today features β€œThe Shape of Power: Stories of Race and American Sculpture,” an exhibit representing that β€œ[s]ocieties including the United States have used race to establish and maintain systems of power, privilege, and disenfranchisement.” The exhibit further claims that β€œsculpture has been a powerful tool in promoting scientific racism” and promotes the view that race is not a biological reality but a social construct, stating β€œRace is a human invention.”

This isn't just systemic racism denial, which is what the anti CRT crusade was all about - this is an EO asserting the racist falsehood that RACE IS BIOLOGICAL, not socially constructed. This is the centerpiece of the disproven race science; what nazi and colonizers used to justify horrors.
