Additional msg bcuz bsky limit: as with any con, I heard that artists make most money off of merch for trending media, like games or shows that are being hyped, but being in a niche can make your income much more independent. I’m very sure you’d do well, your art is lovely, get out there!

If you look up Comic Con Germany you will see that there are lots of those in Germany, the one in Dortmund takes place three times a year!

Im also German so no worries. Some cons like Dokomi prohibit merch for specifically Chinese shows as they are VERY strict about ownership but otherwise there are rarely concerns about that! Cons like Polaris and Connichi do prefer if you have atleast 50% original work to support small businesses

As Pumme said, the artist applications closed on New Year’s Eve, and they’re actively sending out results, but many MANY people have yet to receive the results as they’re being sent manually from what I’ve been told by their staff!

I assure you that fanart is very much appreciated in German con spaces, but dokomi is related towards anime and Japan. I’m sure you’d do very well at Comic Con related events, of which there are more than 10 cons a year in Germany

I would trade my likes for comments any day. If all the people who liked posts went out of their way to comment „cool“ instead, I’m sure most artists would feel much more externally motivated. Of course, external motivation isn’t everything, but man it makes things so much more fun!
