I played in an orchestra which used meantone tuning (I assume quarter-comma, but idk) and it was a little bit difficult for the 11y old me to grasp the concept that you should tune your fifths a little bit narrower than just.

And even with the string section you could have problems, since they have to tune their fifths exactly to the used tuning.

And even then you'd need special instruments besides the string section and the trombones, since they can play microtones without any modification. Which could be even more expensive than an instrument already can be. And then you have to learn the differences to your 12edo instrument.

I personally noticed that flat-fifth temperaments (5th is between 690 to 700 cents) are perfect for peaceful water themes.

That's why I used so many flat temperaments in the tuning comparison of "Dire, Dire Docks", it just sounds so gorgeous 💙

Maybe the 30+ year olds embrace the cringe.

But being just autistic, idek what microtonal system I am. Sometimes I'm being good, orderly 31edo. Other times I'm being limited like 5edo. I feel like an alien like 13edt. And sometimes it's all overwhelming like 1200edo.

I can't even decide just for one system, I'm just sure that I'm not 12edo.

I now think about if you have ADHD on top, it's polymicrotonal chaos and dissonance. Like 5edo, 13edo, 31edo and 43edo at the same time and then it quickly changes to 7edo, 11edo, 23edo and 37edo.

O cravo, que foi o precursor do piano, era afinado no temperamento mesotónico. 12EDO só foi usado desde o século XVIII ou XIX em Europa e agora é a afinação dominante da música ocidental.

O temperamento mesotónico de quarto de coma é mais similar ao 31EDO.
