Is anyone interested in interviews or podcasts or anything along those lines anymore?

19.11.2025 08:49 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I don't think I've talked about it a lot here, but i'm also on Discord, and I'd like to spend more time there, so if you wanted an invite link, that would be cool
Follow-up question for authors on Discord: do you have a "content calendar" for your server or do you let things happen organically?
I forgot to mention it but i met my deadline the other day and i think i deserve a treat for it
(that treat could look like you grabbing a copy of my newest releasel, too)
I need to hire someone to scream at me every time i spend too long without marketing my own book
17.11.2025 17:23 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0(which obviously doesn't mean i'm defending anything about him)
17.11.2025 12:41 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0They can be (and often are, especially in the context around trafficking rings) about power, violence, and/or control.
(so, no, he's not the first queer president, and he doesn't even have to be in the closet/repressed or anything else)
Another thing I haven't seen mentioned around the lowkey LGBTQphobic discourse featuring Trump and that BJ (and i'm speaking as a social psychologist and sex therapist) is that sex, and sex acts, aren't always about sex, or about orientation/identity at all.
17.11.2025 12:41 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0What do you mean there are readers out there who want:
π₯ DD/lb that follows PRICK/RACK guidelines
π» forced proximity + road trip
π΄ horses doing their thing
π¦ adorable foxes and wolves
β€οΈ a decent dash of hurt/comfort

16.11.2025 08:48 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0One day i'll sit down and talk about all the biases and shit authors have to deal with when they write in their second language that's completely dependent on their country/what their first language actually is (eg, perception of authors from Nordic countries vs authors from Hispanic countries)
16.11.2025 08:48 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0and most people won't be too knowledgeable on your niche/audience anyway, so it might be best not to delegate
BUT i just want to write kinky queers doing their thing π
Being an indie author also means an inner battle between wanting to come up with the best content calendar, and just wanting someone to do it for you, but then you panic because it's important that your content calendar isn't too generic, π§΅

stay tuned
(and read my latest cowboy romance while you're at it. it has ABDL in it)
Question for queer romance authors: what would you say is the best investment you've ever made, marketing-wise?
13.11.2025 17:50 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Paperback mock up of Coiled Tight by Emily Alter over a wooden background with blue chipped paint. On top it says "Now live" in big cursive letters. Four curvy arrows come out of the cover, pointing to four "tropes": realism in kink, anxiety rep, wild animal sanctuary, and road trip.
He's a 10 but he lowkey lives as a hermit because he's convinced everyone still resents him from the time his best friend put the sanctuary in jeopardy
13.11.2025 14:36 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0just saying but i add "realism in kink" as a trope/tag/whatever you wanna call it in my books for a reason
and i have a new DD/lb book that focuses (again) on portraying age play in the best way π₯°
mybook.to/CoiledTight
I'm going to make it a regular thing to remind everyone that, if someone is part of a community (eg, age play), chances are their book is not the one portraying Littles in an unrealistic manner π

Cam has zero anxiety. None. A very reliable narrator π
Let's have a round of applause because Amazon has allowed one (1) review to show up for Coiled Tight, *and* it's a 5 stars review
*insert shocked pikachu face*
(this isn't pity marketing. Amazon just takes forever to let me have reviews, even when every other platform has them)
i want games about kink, tell me more π

Coiled Tight, now live on Amazon π¦πΆοΈπ€
I'm late to this but another thing about authors "gatekeeping" is that if you come to me and i see that you're [insert bigoted/problematic thing here]... then, no, i'm not going to help you
publishing spaces are already full of those people and make shit super isolating for the rest of us
but not surprising. (though i guess we're still not ready to address the rampant misogyny in MM spaces that doesn't go away by saying you're a woman, bi, or anything else)
please, start decentering men
When someone points out that sapphic romance exists in reference to how one can't say that queer romance is commonly referred to as MM romance (ie, sapphics are queer too!), and your response is to double down on all the different men MM romance is about, that's... a choice
10.11.2025 16:04 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Screenshot of an email written by AI about one of my books. Mary White titled the email "Let's boost Coiled Tight's visibility on Goodreads", and it reads as follows: Hi Emily, I came across Coiled Tight and couldn't help but think, this story deserves to reach readers who love contemporary Daddy/little dynamics, cowboy romance, and emotionally charged, steamy storytelling. Cameron and her journey toward redemption, set against the rugged backdrop of a Texas sanctuary, makes it exactly the kind of book fans of kink, heart, and heat devour. Goodreads is one of the most powerful yet often underused visibility tools for authors, especially through Listopia placements and optimized reader engagement. That's exactly what I help authors achieve through my Goodreads Visibility & Listopia Placement System, a strategic approach that focuses on organic discovery and credibility, not ads or gimmick. Here's how it works:
Psst: Cam (who doesn't really go by Cameron, and this is established in the first chapter) uses he/him pronouns.
And there is no Texas sanctuary (they're in Colorado), but... nice try, i guess π«
(sapphic romance exists)
(queerness presents in many forms, and "MM" is only one of them)
(not all "MM" is queer, because LGBTQ+ β queer)
Unrelated to my new release, but in regards to all the discourse around MM romance... if you consider that queer romance equals MM romance, you've just lost so many points in your argument as far as i'm concerned
09.11.2025 15:25 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Okay, i'm having one of the best releases ever, and i'm emotional, so you all think we can reach one of my next milestones? π₯Ίπ©·

because it came from scammers way before it even went live
